According to the knowledgeable Auto growers in that forum anything over 5 gallons is overkill and the plants don't do as well. I am seeing that first hand in this grow.

Here are pictures from today May 2 just 6 days later.

Thanks Hellspawn2. I am using the soil recommended in the "Easy Organic Soil Mix for Beginners" thread here:
    http://forum.grasscity.com/organic-growing/1116550-easy-organic-soil-mix-beginners.html

It is 1/3 homemade compost/EWC, 1/3 sphagnum peat moss, and 1/3 5/16" red lava rock.
It has Espoma tomato tone, Kelp meal, Alfalfa meal, Crab meal, Neem cake, and Gaia green glacial rock dust.
The other things in the pots are cover crops which are the 12 species seeds sold by buildasoil.

  4. Sorry I haven't posted much on these but I really am not a fan at all of autos.
They are small and pathetic to me but hey, I got free seeds so here is where they are at now.
I imagine harvest is not far off as leaves are beginning to yellow.

  5. Not much of a fan either. Looks like you did well with them though.

  6. I harvested them the other day and put them in the compost pile.
They were not worth the hassle of drying and trimming.
Never again will I waste water on an auto. [IMG]

  7. looks like the 10g one caught up? why on earth would a plant not do as well in a bigger container [IMG]

im sure they will make a fine humus [IMG]

  8. Sorry to see the way that one worked out. I've really done a lot with autos in the last two years. They have been more of hobby plants while my main grow chugged along slowly. But I usually see between 60-100g dry off my autos under 600w in 2 and 3 gal smarties. I wasn't organic though. They can be fun to toy with. But the really beauty and quality is definitely in the photos. Thanks for the experiment though.
