Post pictures of your record collection, cd collection, or tape collection! Anything goes, as well as general vinyl discussion and equipment talk. I only recently got into vinyl myself so hopefully there are some veterans who can really get this thread going.

Don't want to flood the thread from the beginning so to start off, here are my most two recent purchases: Tim Hecker - Virgins, and Death Grips - The Powers That B.

I think we're all familiar with the polarizing music from Death Grips' camp, but if you haven't checked out this Tim Hecker album, or any of his music definitely give it a chance. Some very haunting electronic composition that will impress almost any fan of good music.

Anyways, I wanna see what you  folks have! Show me your turn table, your cd's, your vinyl. Shit, just come with questions about the hobby if this is all new to you!

    Keep spinnin Blades.

  2. Awesome idea...I love shit like this...

I've got some pretty cool vinyl and acetates I should post up in here...

Posting this now so I can find the thread when I have a chance to get some pics...most of my collection is in storage right now...

  3. I hope this thread takes off, at least with some loyal listeners. I figure with the resurgence in analog music sales and popularity there are more blades with a turntable now than ever before on this forum. I cannot wait to see y'all's stuff. I'll be looking out for your post.

There's just nothing like a nice gatefold, man. [IMG]

  4. I would get lost in this shit if I had the talent to properly explore it.

The only complicated part is learning to work a tonearm, the upkeep, and getting the money for your crippling vinyl addiction.

If you're a fan of music, buying records or CD's are the best way to support the artist besides concerts, and the coloring and mix on wax is always such a unique experience. In no way am I saying vinyl is superior, but there really is a different feel to the whole process. It's almost ritualistic.

Putting a quick pic up as my place holder. Been into it for a few years. Upgraded through some TTs. Happy with my setup now for a while. New vinyl is where it's at for the most part. Good stuff gets released on wax.

Just some pics of what I have beside me at the moment. A lot of unopened classic rock vinyls and a Beatles album with original lyric booklet. Will break out the punk rock Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, The Descendents, etc. tomorrow. Oh and and some old folk music. Check out Justin Townes Earle if you haven't already. Wish I was alive during the 70's and early 80's when people actually appreciated records.

  13. Is that a J Mascis album below the Beck one? I'm a huge Dinosaur Jr. fan.

  14. Wax is coming back in a big way! Of course, digital media will always profit more,

  15. Gatefold album covers are perfect for breaking up and rolling weed. Some of mine have microscopic traces of 45 year old weed in the creases.

Ya, it's one of his solo records.  Called Several Shades of Why.  It came out around the time of the book 50 Shades of Grey and when I bought the record, it came with a shirt that said 50 Shades of J.  The looks I used to get in the grocery store from middle age ladies were priceless.

Cool song btw.  I hadn't heard that version.
