  1. Hey HuntAK thanks for stopping by, here take a hit of this [IMG]

what sold me mostly on the Neosol was the silent design. these light have no fans at all so they are dead silent, which is important to me. i also like the fact that they have a very even light spread across the footprint, i like that for growing in SOG style.

speaking of lights, ive been thinking of adding a couple of T5 or T8 bulbs for side lighting...one on each side of the Neosol...we'll see.

    peace brother!

    ALL ABOARD!!!

We are about to embark on a voyage to the sea of green! Passengers are kindly requested to board our flagship 'NoTill 1' !
Please keep your feet underground and refrain from smoking until the captain has turned off the no smoking sign.

OK so 12 panama clones have been tenderly transplanted today in the the notill [IMG] ' hopefully the kosher kush clones should be joining them in a few days when the NoTill 1 makes a stop at the rabbi's house!

so far i got 4 clones from each panama cultivar (#2, #5 and #10) and i left some space for 4 kosher clones on the left.

trying to figure out the layout, you can see the first clone to go in. transplant holes got sprinkled with mycorrhizae

in spit of all my attempts it didn't come out as straight as i hoped, oh well. some room on the left side for the kosher clones.

  3. neem/kelp tea stinks! i had that stuff brewing for 20 hours,,,man the smell...the smell!!

anyway, all the plants and the no-till got their monthly drench with the stuff today.

the tranplanted clones are looking  happy in the no-till! didnt have time to take pics of that though, maybe tomorrow.

  4. Hahaha, Garlic and Fish Lol, a hell of a combo! I used to spray neem and kelp lol, and after each time, I'd have to hear the misses mouth for the following 48hrs or so

  5. It's been two days since i transplanted the panama clones into the no-till.  girls are looking happy and perky and green! [IMG]   i think i will give them 2 more days and flip the lights. i would rather have them shorter since I'm not sure how much they will stretch and branch in this setup and since these are 100% sativas i don't want to let them get too long because i don't have a whole lot of head room.

I also transplanted one of each of the mothers clones into #1 smartpots. these will replace the current mother plants, which will probably turn into mulch for the no-till once i see the transplants are ok.

    that's all for now,

looks like my girls really like this soil!  they already grew a couple of inches since two days ago [IMG]
gonna flip them tomorrow for sure. worst case i end up with smallish plants and ill give them more next time.

i got a feeling they are ready to start running, or sprinting for that matter! [IMG]

  7. Hey Scoobie I'm subbed! Can't wait to see that 100 gal setup perform. How many actual watts is your light! That's a big panel, I like the way it's spread out for coverage. Must be large diodes?
Thanks for showing the Blumat moisture meter. I just ordered one from Amazon. That will help me get the watering just right in my 15 gal no tills!
I may go to Blumats at some point as well. Trying SWICK on one but without much luck so far. Can you move yours plants around with a Blumat system? I'm not that familiar.

  8.
    Hey mainah
scoobysnacks on the table help yourself [IMG]

the light is 300watt i think that is the actual draw but i could be wrong. this is a serious company that makes them,  they specialize in all sorts of leds but their horticulture lights are actually used in some vertical farms. the diode is a 5.5w and is actually made out of 16 tiny leds in a 4x4 matrix. each with its own optical reflector, no lens needed and it gives a very distinct square beam.
    151_0.jpg
the even coverage is perfect for SOG too, all the plants get very even light. and the best part? its totally silent since there are no fans or moving parts, oh and it's waterproof.
i've ordered a pack of these diodes and also built 3 smaller light with them using aluminum heat sinks, they work really well, lets just say my DIY 50W is outperforming (an understatement) a 240w blackstar i bought a few years ago, and probably cost half.

the moister meter is great so far. just follow the easy instructions and remember to leave it in the soil for a couple of hours before you take a reading (i leave mine in 24/7, i put a plastic cup over it but im pretty sure its water proof)
as for moving plants around, sure just get some extra 3mm drip line (which i would order anyway) and make it as long as you need. i would also look for the superflex 8mm feed line as the original 8mm is a PITA to work with.

i actually have an idea to combine blumats with a swick, just stick a blumat into the wicking medium, calibrate and voila, self filling self wicking system! i might build one for my mother plants. [IMG]

    thanks for dropping in![IMG]

  9. Impressive LED! Waterproof would be huge! I have one of those 240 watt Blackstars, or half of one. Half went out. After my new lights come I'll open it up.
You're into them a lot further than I am. Never tried building one yet. Maybe someday.
Thanks for the tips on the moisture meter and the Blumats. Looks like a lazy gardeners dream...right up my alley lol.

Day 0 - lights have been flipped! [IMG]

tallest plant about 17cm, shortest is about 8cm...lets see how this pans out!

i think the Neem/Kelp tea attracted some fruit flies, [IMG] anyway they seem to enjoy hanging out on these yellow sticky traps for some reason [IMG]

i got some of the live mulch sprouting that i dont remember what it was, i know i put it in there cause i can see these big round seeds in the picture from my 1st page when i planted them, but i cant identify them. definitely not cilantro, mint, chives, clover or fenugreek...anyone recognize it?

Day 3, attitude nominal, speed nominal, altitude nominal and raising![IMG]

the girls are doing very well, actually i can already see a difference in vigor and growth compared to growing in 1 gallon pots, hands down.

was supposed to do coconut water today but decided to skip since the soil is still very moist according to the blumat moister meter. its reading 55milibar where under 50 is considered very moist and between 50 and 120 is ideal. i don't think the blumats even got a chance to deliver any water yet since i saturated the soil before installing them and then gave watered in a  neem/kelp tea for IPM  a few days after that.

been reading on UVB lately..i might add some reptile bulbs for the end of the flower cycle...

9 days for the kosher clones, waiting on those roots!

  12. Hi Scoobie! Thanks for the snacks!
Could those fruit flies be fungus gnats? Just fought those little buggers off myself. Beneficial nematodes FTW!

  13. i have both lol, but the fruit flies appeared specifically after the neem/kelp tea.
they look just like a fly with the big eyes:

  14. Same controls would probably still work if you're looking to get rid of them.

i put down some yellow sticky traps on the soil surface. most of them where gone after 24 hours and i didn't see any after a couple of days. i still have some gnats but not many. i have some BTI if they get out of hand.

  16. cloning experiment!

today i did a little cloning experiment to see which cloning medium preforms better.

cloning mix a: equal parts WC, peat and lava rock
cloning mix b: 100% coco coir

clones where taken from two ace panama plants. 6 clones from #5 and 6 clones from plant #10.
i tried as much as i could to take similar clones for each mix; for instance i would take two clones from lower, new branches and put one in mix a and one in mix [IMG]. i didn't take clones from the main tops of either plant.

clones where all placed in plastic cups with holes drilled at the bottom for drainage and placed on a layer of perlite where they can wick water from (swick style)

first pic the peat mix is on the left, coco on the right. second pic the top 6 clones are the peat mix, bottom 6 are the coco coir.

meanwhile my panama seed project is 56 days since lights flipped today, i think another 3 weeks or so (this strain is suppose to be 9-12 weeks IIRC) or maybe a little more. i remember reading coots saying that the seeds are ready when they start falling out or "rattling"

want to try using kelp and alfalfa foliars to even out the canopy.
shorter plants will get alfalfa and taller plants will get kelp foliar.

  18. Ooooooooo Auxin & Gibberlin experiements, nice!
Excited to see the results of this one :)

What are the specs of the DIY LED BTW?
A bit of an abbreviation overload I'm aware lol

  19. Hey FinerMarijuana thanks for dropping by :)

this is my first time using these kind of foliars so im also excited to see what happens! i can already see the effects of the kelp in my soil as the plants are branching out a lot more then they have in the last round.

the LED i built is made of 9 surexi modules which come in several spectrums for different applications. i used 5 of the F3 flowering spectum and 4 of the F7 which is a mostly blue spectrum to balance things out since i use these mainly for vegging moms and seedlings. i also put each spectrum on a separate circuit so i can use one or the other if i want, i use red only for cloning for instance.
at 5.5w each that makes it a 50w panel. and it kicks ass, even if i say so myself, lol!  i can take some pics of it if you'd like.

    peace!

    Hey, anytime brother!

And i wouldn't bother you for the pics! Maybe the next update you can snap one IF you remember! No biggie.
But I mainly wanted to know what colors you were using and how many watts between what size diodes.
I was so close to buying a Mar Hydro LED until A saw a thread were a guy absolutely BLASTED 1g/w using the Cree LED bulbs from Home Depot(Cree a19).
So not I want to cramp my growing space as tight as I can with those, in a 4:1 red:blue ratio, with a few full spectrums in between.
I'm no knowledgeable enough to build my own LEDs tho(as I've never looked into it).
But it that Panama flowering solely under the DIY?

PS* If you want me to link you to that thread let me know, otherwise just disregard this brother
