LED Grow Tent Setup Help

  1. I'll be getting my medical card in a about a month and I'd like to have an adequate setup by then.

I currently have a 4'x4'x6.8' (48"x48"x80") grow tent and would like to grow 4 - 6 plants. I haven't chosen all my strains yet, but I know I'd like some White Widow.

I live in SoCal and temperates can get pretty hot sometimes so I'm backing away from an HID system and looking into LEDs, specifically the Mars Hydro Reflector Series 192x3. Do you think this light will be enough to get a nice harvest in a 4'x4'? If not could you give me some recommendations?

I'll probably be starting in soil, pot sizes haven't been decided probably 3 - 5 gallon, but after couple harvests I'd like to try some DWC. Now I've had some terrible luck when it comes to soil, but I've heard some good things about Promix HP. You guys have any other recommendations?

Tap water is pretty harsh in my area, > 200 ppm, so I might invest in an RO System, but for a grow my size this might be over kill.

Humidity is another thing I'm having issues with. Some days humidity will be a good 45% - 57%, others 20% - 30%. This might be do to my current shitting ventilation system, which I will be updating too, but I was wondering how I hookup a humidifier in my grow tent? Do I just let it sit at the floor of my grow tent? Or does it sit outside humidify the intake air?

Thanks for helping me out and if you have any recommendations please let me know!

  2. First things first .. Research white led grow lights... The best "full spectrum" LEDs Are pure white.. Second the more light the better. Throw a few ctls in there also... Second off.. Jump to a 7-10gal pot .. Mainline and lollipop your plants.. Go fox farms ocean forest for soil add some aeration to it .. And grab a hanging dehumifier from Walmart

  3. I've looked into full spectrum white LEDs, but at that price point I'd rather get a 1kW HID system and air conditioning. Do you have any recommendations one which LEDs? Also 7 - 10 gallons seems s bit big? I'm thinking of vegging to 1ft - 1 1/2ft then switching to flower and having a 3ft - 4ft finish. Also do you recommend starting with smart pots or plastic ones?

  4. You can trim and train a large plant to grow how u want. You cant over grow a small plant to fill ... Also LEDs are only used to expand the spectrum and to reduce heat... If your looking to do those then spend the money... I seed in solos ... Veg in 3 gal smart pots ... Flower in 7 gal plastic pots... I run a 5x5x6.5 flower tent ... 1000w hps and supplemented extra spectrum lighting.. With co2... But i mainline all my plants... It grows round ... With 8-16 huge colas ... I get more than a gram a watt ... And have extra room .. Led is my endgame... Less power usage less heat... You can go sealed set up ... That means no noise from a fan ... Best possible start for stealth... And white led produces the thickest veg FME. You get what you put into lnto it and that's very noticeable with cheaper LEDs ..

  5. I don't recommend equipment if I don't currently use it .. Due to advancing technology.. And because I don't have the ability to be familiar with it when I'm speaking about it

  6. I would have to agree with Ink in most of these cases.. I never re pot. my clones go from the cloner to 5 gal buckets ( have been drill out bottom and sides like an airpot) and thats what they finish in, this only works if you have the room to accommodate all the buckets. I suggest getting the biggest pots / buckets / bags you can possibly fit in the room comfortably. I dont veg to a specific size since i roll the SCRoG method they fill screens till the flower room is ready to harvest then the plants move over and the cycle continues. Main lining is a good plan very easy to achieve and maintain, i did this over a few grows and enjoyed the look of the plant. I personally find in my situation i get 3-5 weeks to veg so i need much more room and thats where the screens come in.

As for lighting. LED are amazing yes.......if you have 1500$ or more to buy a good 600 watt + full spectrum anything else it wont compete with the 1000 watt HPS thats being said im still going to be buying one around the end of the year. I started in a small box with CFL grew some shabby crops and moved to the 1000 watt HPS and for 300$ i cant complain what so ever. get a good inline fan and a cooled hood and you wont have any issues. To be 100% honest when i do get my LED i will probably just be adding it to the grow room and not removing my HPS.

for grow medium i use Pro mix and perlite, pretty basic works well for me never had any issues.

  7. So it seems a 1,000w HID system is my best bet. I'm growing in 4ft x 4ft tent so 1,000 watts will probably be enough. I'm interested in trying SCRoG after my first grow. I'll be getting my medical card in about a month so that's probably when I'll start growing, Where should I look for the HID system? My local hydro store is pretty expensive compared to online retailers.

amazon or ebay. would probably be the easiest. just watch some reviews, read some comparisons and see which set up you like best. Alot of people talk shit about IPower and their gear but thats what im running and i havent had an issue in the last year.

when i first received my package my hood had a minor dent and the MH bulb (didnt plan on using it anyways) had some loose glass inside it. i called the number on the card in the box they asked me for a couple pictures within 5 mins of me emailing them the pictures i received shipping confirmation for a new hood and bulb, i didnt even ask for a new hood the dent was so minor it didnt even matter to me..lady said use mine till the new one comes and swap it out mail it back.

just make sure u pick a decent company that will stand up for the warranty if needed.
