So from what I've gathered the higher the refinement of the butane the more it becomes like top grade jolly rancher shatter. This is due to less moisture is the butane hence the d in dbho for dry. I'm assuming that more refined butane is more expensive as well. I would like a guide on how to make this stuff because I sure love it.
It's super easy. First, get yourself a nice glass unit for pushing the butane through the bud(Similar to this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TWO-GLASS-EXTRACTORS-11x1-25-TWO-GLASS-TUBES-/331494682672), as well as a pyrex dish for letting the liquid evaporate in. Grind up an ounce or so or your best bud and fill the glass tube. Use a plain coffee filter around the big open end, securing it with a hose clamp. Any butane will work, but rumor has it that the more expensive butane works better. Use what you want. The butane is pumped into the tiny hole from the top, flows through your bud, and into the pyrex dish below (a 9x9" baking dish is plenty big enough) and will slowly evaporate at room temperature. This process can be sped up by placing the pyrex dish into a larger dish that has hot water in it. This should be done in a well ventilated area, with no sparks. After this is complete, and all the liquid has evaporated, you will be left with your honey oil. Go ahead and scrape it off with a razor blade, and place the chunks onto a piece of parchment paper. Use a heat gun on the honey oil just to the point where is it melted and spread out a bit. Once it cools, it will harden up, and become what you know to be shatter. To add to that, you will probably want to use two cans of butane for an ounce of bud to get everything.
You're missing purging, there's a few different ways but an easy very effective way is to use high proof alcohol like everclear. Do some further research on it though
is it better to mix a bunch of strains together to create your shatter or just one single kind? Im likin the mix idea.
