Long Term Storage of Bud

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Distrex, Feb 20, 2015.

  1. Now, keeping in mind that I have smoked more than a little herb tonight, I had a quick question.  My first harvest is just around the corner, and I am very excited to try my very first, home grown organic bud!  But I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for long term curing and/or storage, so I'll be able to smoke it a year, two years, (more?) down the road.

I think it would be great to be able to store my very first harvest to try several grows from now to look back and see how far I've come.   Haha.

Thank you for your time :D

  2. From all the reading and professional advice ive received about curing and other processes. Once you get it to the perfect humidity you seal the jar and stick it in a dark cool place and never mess with it till you get ready to use it. Light/Heat ruin the curing process of the buds. So patience, stable conditions, and the right technique/experience will set you on the right road to a long and fruitful and flavorful batch of THC wrapped  ooey-gooey buds of love that you grew yourself.

  3. Basically what DarkEetrius said. A proper drying before you start the cure is said to help as well. What I take from that is to not dry it too fast (a couple of days), and just make sure it doesn't mold if you have thick dense buds that are drying slow.

Then it's to mason jars from there. At that point I still burp until I am satisfied they are at a consistent humidity and also throw a 62% boveda humidipack in the jar. You don't need one, but I have grown to like them. Then to a dark, cool storage place until I use it. I personally still open it here and there to check on it, but not often like burping.

  4. I want some of the 4g 62% Boveda packs but i dont want my name on their mailing list cause i live somewhere that its not legal yet.

  5.
You can obviously do it without them, but it'll be something to look forward to :) Also Amazon sells it or local headshops either might sell it, or would be willing to get it. No mailing list either of those ways where I am, don't know about you.

  6. Great bits of advice everyone. It sounds like there isn't anything special really to try. Just a proper dry, good cure, then keep it in the mason jar tucked away in a cool, dry, dark place.

I plan on separating out into some smaller mason jars, labeled and put up for a while then.

    Thanks again everyone :D
