Best cheap soil for indoor grow

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by final824, Jan 4, 2015.

  1. I know that mg and any of there other products should be avoided at all cost. But what is the best soil with the most bang for the buck? I have heard great things about fox farms but most stores want $10 for a bag that can't even fill a 1.5 gallon pot after watering. It would cost me at least $20-30 to fill a five gallon pot and with 4-5 plants thats a lot of money in soil alone, when a huge bag of scotts cost $7 and goes a long way. Im looking for organic soil without many added nutrients, so I have a clean slate to add nutes when and how I want, any suggestions?

This is how I make my soil..you need worm castings, peat moss, and perlite. I also add some lime in there 1tbsp per gallon for pH balance and some azomite.

If you can start your own worm bin you will find it really beneficial in your growing..worm castings are expensive compared to being able to harvest your own.

  3. If you want a clean slate to add nutes to then you dont want to make your own...when you make organic soil it is to grow the plant for the whole life with just water.
For the best controlled environment use fox farm and just water for 20 days then ad nutes. I have a house 4 and one 6 hours from the ff shop....they are consistent with the drainage, ph and other crap in the mix...thats why it costs so.
As for ready to use good stuff you get what you pay for but you can throw a little perlite into ANY dirt and start a grow if your gonna just add nutrients later.

you need to make your own. A little prudent shopping and you can come in much less than storebought

  5. a cheap place to start is 2 cubic feet of mulch fines
    8 qts of peat
    8 qts of perlite
