Whats one of your favourite words?

  1. Doesn't look like this has been before, so...

Write your favourite word or otherwise one that you really like for whatever reason, I think it could be interesting; plus we could come away from this thread with a slightly better vocabulary.

Would be nice if you could include the definition. I'll start with one!

Surreptitious: kept secret, especially because it would not be approved of.

  3. I love British idioms and expressions.

    I say 'Fantastic' a lot.

  4. Equipaje:  Spanish word for luggage.  Pronounced Eh-key-pah-hey

It just sounds cool when spoken in Spanish.

I had no idea that Fantastic was a British thing.

    Edit:

Fantastic is my favourite word in Italian: Meraviglioso

It can be used in business
"How did I end up with this fucking job?"

  8. Musical Frisson. It's the feeling of chills people get when they listen to a passage of music they really enjoy. I just love that there's a word for it.

  9. Hit my wife with "sycophant" the other day.

It means someone that acquiesces easily to authority. Explains a lot of people I know.

Doubt anyone in this forum is anything like that, considering the subject matter. :bongin:

  11. You might enjoy "obsequious" too! An adjective for someone that is quick to obey.

"Obsequious sycophant" might be one of the worst insults in the English language, IMO
