nutrient lockout (bad Ph levels)

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by ogderp84, Nov 5, 2014.

  1. What are some way to help reverse nutrient lockout or a poor Ph level? In younger plants say between seedling stage( if possible ) and plants that are about a month or two from seedling?

I'm having a very hard time keeping my Ph level from rising and lowering in my resivour, and I'm not sure why.

Any input would be appreciated even if someone could just provide some links to stuff I could read, every thing I seem to find seems to contradict one another...

  2. Are you using RO water? Generally the lighter the soup, the more 'swingy' the pH is going to be. And seeing as how you are talking about seedlings, I'm guessing your soup is very light. The nutrients act as a buffer that steadies your pH. So early on a swingy pH is generally normal.

My question to you is why you are even bothering to use a res when they are so young. Just hand water them until they mature a bit more. That way you won't have to worry about pH at all.

  3. I am not. I didn't hear about RO until a few weeks after I began. I am using tap water, so I was told that it should sit for 24+ hours that is why I have a resivour. My plants are 9 weeks old and I have one that is 14 weeks. I threw seedlings in there just as a starting point rather than saying 9 weeks to 14 weeks.

But if lock out were to happen... How does one reverse the lock out? Is my main question or concern.

  4. They don't seem to grow very much, I potted this one sept 28th as a seedling that was 10 days old.... ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1415157912.911477.jpg ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1415157925.460714.jpg

  5. I experienced this before. I left it out in the open, no shelter. Yeah, you read it right. it bloomed well after 1-2 weeks.

My point here is, substitute your water using rain water. Rain water seems to work its magic on such situation.

  6. Well letting water set is a myth, because the dinosaurs believed that chlorine would harm the plants, but contrary to popular belief, the cannabis plants actually need chlorine in their diet.

It would help if you told us what growing medium you're using, what have you been feeding them, and how old they are.
Posting pics work great to diagnose a plant problems.

  7. They are clones cut sept 28th, planted in fox farms ocean forrest and coco and humid acid ( volcanic ash ) oct 4th. Using CFL's an inch away, found out I had been using 2700k bulbs that were mislabeled, ugh... For the first 3 weeks switched them to 6500k two weeks ago they have taken off since.... I'll show you, the one to the front right, has been growing insanely. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1415899207.770177.jpg [as for nutrients I been feeding them pro grow first two feelings, then switched to a half dose of cal mag ( general hydrophonics) some root enhancer, and some other stuff I also got a water stabilizer (z7) we have very very hard water, vegetative plant formula ( earth juice) in my most recent feeding and man they reall beefed up thicker stems nice beautiful deep green as for rain water in the past year that I have lived in the San Fernando valley, it has rained four times... We are in a major major drought right now.

  10. There was a lot of dead and yellow as well at the time of this post, but I removed it. All nice green now except where I've come home and they have grew two inches while at work and touching the lights have like three slight burn marks on my canopy.

  11. Wow actually the one in the front right, is actually the same one I posted this about initially when I posted pics, crazy how much it grew in just a week, compared to how the first 4-5 weeks went, they are about 5 or 6 weeks now. Given the rocky beginning and the problems with lighting, how long would you beg them for I had it arranged to beg for 8-10 weeks but only 2-4 more weeks doesn't seem like much.

Don't mind that middle plant. Haha.
