Can barely even smoke weed? How to get through this?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by Home_stone, Oct 13, 2014.

  1. Ide imagine this is probably a common topic but im new to this forum so, basicaly around 8 or 9 months ago i had a panic attack, big deal right? Well the thing is i had no reason to panic, no cops, didnt smoke too much or anything, and after that night i was so stressed and anxious that everytime i smoked ide get a bad panic attack, my friends said i should just get high and chill , so i kept smoking weed everyday while getting repeated panic attacks "trying to chill", didnt work and gave myself like an anxiety disorder from all the panic attacks. It sucks... Anyways i havent really smoked weed in around 4 months now, prior to these panic attacks ive been smoking for around 3 years with no panic attacks. What could have caused this? Also, i found a joint of mids in my mason jar under my bed, and im craving to smoke it but dont want to incase of another attack?

  2. it can happen, there is a cause though but its not always obvious. im assuming youre smoking black market weed so you dont know the genetics, but youre going to want indicas, or find and resolve whatever issue may be weighing on you

  3. Indicas will do this less often than a sativa. Sounds like greening out , similar symptoms. Try to smoke a very very small amount. wait. see how u feel, then smoke a tiny bit more. Take small hits. report back. most people also overthink it and cause their own anxiety.

Most people who have anxiety attacks after smoking usually cause it themselves. They essentially talk their minds into panicking by thinking they're going to panic. There's some deep, psychological explanation to it that I'm not going to go into.
Anyway, once you start thinking you're going to freak out, the battle is already over. I recommend lighting one of those joints, smoking half of it, waiting about 10 minutes, and watching some tv with some snacks. If you don't feel high, go ahead and finish the joint. Just sit on the couch, sink real low (enough that your posture would make your grandmother's toes curl), and just simply enjoy.

    Happy toking!

  5. Smoked a joint this dude next door brought over one night felt like I was gonna fucking die, I went from hyperventilating to forgetting to breath an finally went in an landed down figured I'd either die garden on my bed or Wake up fine. Ended up finding out why, first time I had coke in my weed. That's kinda just my own take on a bad toke but my sister is just like you, she stopped smoking because she panics everything she smokes. My girlfriend actually has panic attacks an she smokes to relax so it's all on you really it's not the bud it's just your trigger is flipped from the THC if you handle stress well you'll never have that problem but there could be all kinds of reasons, I know this post didn't really help just figured I'd add my two cents.

You can always try some jasmine tea before you smoke or even a xanny if your wanting to smoke but if I panicked when I smoked I'd be looking for a new stress relief.

I don't know if you get the chance but go hiking, nothing more relaxing then a beautiful walk through the woods with a blunt.

  6. ive never gotten a panic attack and ive smoked ounces at a time before

  7. Is it just me or do these types of threads come in waves? Where's my nigga cball?

  8. cball left the city

  9. I had a panic attack once a few years back but, I was worried about my upcoming bankruptcy, foreclosure, and homelessness. I had more than a few things on my plate. It only happened once though, thank goodness.

  10. don't smoke. Or do smoke. If you get yet another panic attack then it is official that weed is not for you.

  11. Took a few hits didnt have a panic attack, but still got anxious... Maybe a longer break? Or would it be a bad idea to take ssri or anti anxietys with weed?

  12. Nooooo SSRIs. Trust me. Don't mix that shit. They're atrocious even without throwing weed on top of them.

  13. Are they really that bad? Im not on them but my doctor was going to prescribe me something... I think its lorezapam or something..

  14. If you need an ssri, you need an ssri. If you don't, then it isnt good to take. IDGAF what anyone says, but if they had a severe psych disorder, they would be begging for some ssri's.

  15. Just had 1 a few days ago (day after smoking :O)

  16. As much as people here in the city may not like to say it, weed is not for everyone. Some people just don't handle THC nearly as well as others, so I'd recommend listening to this wise fellow right here:

  17. so you went and got prescribed junk because of these panic attacks instead of finding the root of the problem? *sigh* Yep, common story.

I just starting smoking, so I don't know how much assistance, if any, this will be.

Anyways, my third time smoking... I cried. I started crying because of two reasons. I smoked a lot for my physical body and the effects felt very similarly to a dream I have during surgery. I've been having surgeries since I was 3 months and ever since I can remember I've had the same dream during every surgery, in which I'm staring down at myself having surgery in the operating room while my body feels a sense of vertigo coupled with heaviness and pulsing sensations running through my right side, particularly my arm. Anyways, I didn't see myself on the sofa freaking out or anything crazy like that, but I did feel the vertigo, heaviness, and the pulsing sensations. It started with the pulsing and I was cool with that. Then my body got heavy and I was like, "Okay, that's my cue to stop." But, when I got to the vertigo I was not having that because at that point I got scared that I would see myself freaking out on the sofa, like how I see myself being operating on. I was convinced that would happen. Now, looking back I know I was just being a jerk because it's just a dream, it has always been a dream and will always be a dream. A stupid dream I have when I have surgery. Since then I did smoke that same amount once again, but that time around I knew that what my body was experiencing was okay. I knew I wasn't in the hospital, having surgery and I definitely knew that I wasn't going to be looking down at myself, seeing myself.

The point to my embarrassing story is I think if you have issues it will make it harder to smoke. Not just because of my experience, but also because I have been around one person who had mental issues and whenever they smoked they would freak out. I also knew this guy over the Internet who had mental issues and would freak out too when he smoked. Now, I don't know if you have mental issues and I'm not suggesting you do (Not that, that is a bad thing to have), but maybe you have insecurities, worries, fears like I do with surgeries. And maybe if you confront them, like I did (kind of, not really, I still have issues with surgeries), you can stop these panic attacks.

I'm sure you have heard this phrase before, "Weed isn't for everyone". I don't know whether or not that is true, but from my little experience I'm starting to think smoking is a trade learned. So, I think it take practice, support, and knowledge.

Again, I just started smoking, so this most likely is totally uneducated and not helpful, but I know how it feels, at least. So, I hope you figure it out.
