Nature Of Employee Background Checks

Discussion in 'Marijuana Business and Industry' started by hot_lettuce, Jul 8, 2014.

  1. I've been offered a job at a dispensary in Colorado, and am in process of getting my Support Employee badge.

I have a couple questions about the background check to get the badge and any possible ones at the place of employment.

I don't have any arrests or convictions, however because I was dumb in the past, I was caught for shoplifting at Target in 2011 (in California). It's not something I'm proud of, but it happened. The police were never involved, and if anything I might be recorded in the National Theft Database.

Is this something that will come up in my background checks? After some time on Google I found that these databases are usually accessed by retailers, but I'm not sure if this is something that a MMJ dispensary would use.

Should I divulge this information, or will this even come up? I want to be honest about this but want to know if this is going to keep me from getting a job in the industry.

edit: My #1 rule and it's worked out for me.

but seriously I doubt you are in any kind of system, sounds pretty ridiculous.

  3. Along those lines, what happens if you were arrested for felony possession, charge was pending until a whole year of drug court was competed and said felony was dropped and expunged from record? Will that hinder you from working in the industry?

  4. If you weren't charged i doubt that anything will come up.

  5. No charges means that there shouldn't be a record
