Self-Help Books?

Discussion in 'The Bookshelf' started by RomanEmpire420, May 7, 2014.

  1. Anyone have ideas or any books they've read and recommend? Self Improvement, Law of Attraction, etc.

  2. Self-help books are sort of a farce. They are like a work packet you get in high school classes that have uninspiring, lazy instructors. You're great just the way you are! (unless you molest children, in which case I'd recommend you stop)

  3. I'm not sure.. But I don't go that way bro

  4. Brodawg..you need to learn game, fuck that self help new age wimp shit.

Nah I'm kidding, it's all a crock of shit, just be you, or don't, I'm a rabid misanthrope you probably should'nt listen to me

  5. Can't believe no1 here likes to improve on themselves.. oh well  :bongin:

  6. How to argue and win every time by Gerry spence, but normally i dont reccomend self help books as they arnt very credible.

  7. "Be Yourself everyone else is already taken" haven't finished yet but I like it so far. It's about being being a genuine person and not acting the way you think people want you to do but being who you really are.

  8. Guess I should've named this Self Improvement not self help. And the guy who said I NEED TO LEARN SOME GAME, you're prob some fat ass old Fart SITTING AT HIS COMPUTER ALL DAY. I get more action then your momma on the weekends biH okay so let's get that straight . I'm just trying to see if I can get any help around here, cause maybe somebody's suicidal and looking for help, ever think of that ashole? thanks for being a douchebag, peace I'm outta here...

Illusions by Richard Bach, fear by Thich Naht Hanh(his teachings are good but he is not an enlightened monk), the Don Juan series is very interesting and explained to me a lot about certain things in psychedelic trips :). But by far Buddhism is the winner with self help and spirituality. I'd suggest going on sacred texts. They have huge amount of Buddhist teachings and other works. I recommend the gospel of Buddha to start with.

  13. Buddhism isn't a religion. It's way of understanding. Most of what they speak of are metaphors such as maya the demon. He isn't actually a demon but represents human desires and ego.

i had a feeling that's what you'd comment on because I felt the same way. That isn't the Buddha speaking but disciples and the Buddha isn't a god but a man. Keep reading there are many lessons to be learned. Remember that they're metaphors not literal. Food for the hungry. Knowledge for the learner.

  16. I got this book called emotionial freedom at some book fair. just now getting around to reading it. its pretty good, but does get dry towards the end of the book.

the first half of the book is about finding a spirtual connection, using intuition, the powers of meditation.

the secon half is about transforming negative emotions like fear, frustration, and jealousy into positive emotions. for instance, she explains that frustration is simply a lack of patience.

emotional freedom by judith orloff (something like that)

ps: does anyone know how to get this reply box to check my spelling?

feel free to ask any questions about the book

  18. Don't agree with that, never think you are great the way you are cause nobody is. People say the same thing to fat people which gives them the excuse not to work out.

You are not great the way you are OP but you can start to be right now. You already smoke grass; that's all the help you will ever need. Use it to look inward, look at your faults and correct them. You're a house that still needs to be built and you already have the materials, you just need to put the effort in to build the house yourself, with help if you need any of course.
