How Many Watts Of Cfl For 6 Plants?

  1. Just started up again, got 6 seeds popped, right now they're under 3 26w daylight cfl's. Once they get bigger, I know i'll need ALOT more.. Just wondering how many is alot? lol

  2. 5000 lumens per plant. If you are using the 26W cfl's, 4 per plant should do it. If you buy the larger 42W bulbs from the hardware store, 2 per plant should do it.

  3. You just blew me out of the water! Hahaha! I use 2x 1,000w HPS and they give ff 240,000 lumens! Guess I'm good! More than enough for everyone, if your calculations are correct! Yay! Like they say, more power, more flower!!  :gc_rocks:

  4. Hahahaha DAMN. I bet they can see you from the moon, bruh!

  6. I hope since these seem to be slow starters they'll be fast growers..lol

I think the 5000 lumens is supposed to be a minimum, and the lumens that hit your plant change by distance. 120K lumens per bulb is right at the bulb. It goes down quite a bit when you're 20 inches away. I saw a chart once that showed how many lumens different wattage HID's gave from so many inches away. I wish I had copied it for reference. lol

I use 2 x 1000W as well, currently, MH set up. I have 2 separate 1000W HPS I will use for flower, likely with 1 x 1000W MH to supplement. 10 clones of OG kush under those, along with some seedlings that will likely wait in my CFL grow box with new clones while the original 10 clones bud.

  8. 138w and 9600 lumens per plant.  That's just a guess out of thin air because it's what I used on my half completed CFL grow.

I have no clue if that is too little or too much.  I just know that it worked for me.  :)

  9. Everyone is doing a great job at answering your questions so I am really here to agree with what they are saying. Obviously the more the better. I have personally used CFLs and just remember that they don't directly translate to HID. As in 600 Watts of CFLs (obviously not 600W equivalent) But the actual amount, 600W of CFL does not equal the lumen output of 600W of CFL, so make sure you look at the lumen count. That's why a lot of people think that CFLs are cheaper.
