My favorite throwback artist

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by StonedMortal, Mar 15, 2014.

  1. Remember your favorite artist in high school? Do you still listen to them now?
Or has your music taste totally changed?

Mine were Bullet For My Valentine, A7X, In Flames and Coheed & Cambria.
Now It's The Black Dahlia Murder, Death, Vale of Pnath, and The Faceless. It's totally changed and I never really thought It would.

  2. I used to be a huge underoath fan.
Still enjoy them, but not as much.

    My favorites now are
Circa Survive, Between the Buried and Me, Every time I die, Structures, and Animals as Leaders.

  4. My teenage years were based in Korn and System, then I started listening to some Rob Zombie, Grave Digger, Lamb of God, Hatebreed, I had a metalcore band, lots of bands of that kind.
I'm just 18 now and months before leaving high school I was taught the stoner lifestyle together with Stoner rock, and holy fuck! What a genre, I'm hooked to bands like Kyuss, Sleep, Clutch, Red Fang, Truckfighters, QotSA, but I still listen to my earlier metal tastes sometimes!!

  5. The only band that I was okay with say back when and can't stand now is Slipknot, god Corey Taylor is a horrible vocalist (at least his harsh vocals, last I heard StoneSour his cleans were tolerable) I don't know how I ever liked it.

Despite residing on the deep end of the heavy scale, surrounded by Grindcore and Death Metal, I still enjoy other bands from back then though, no shame in jamming to System of A Down or Serj's solo stuff.

  6. My throwback list is ridiculous. So many different genres, so many different bands/artists that no one could ever guess that I was a fan.

  7. I was a wigger back in middle school (complete with hippity-hop)

    I don't talk about those days >_<

  8. Hahah! I was a nerd. Rap and anime music hahahaha

  9. The clear thing to do, would be combine them into J-Rap :p

I was checking out a band the other day (the name escapes me, I wanna say Xeno, but that may have been the album not the band) that combines EDM with various Metal subgenres (but primarily metalcore/melodeath) kinda like Blood Stain Child, but instead of how with BSC it sounds like metal + EDM, these guys sounded like straight EDM Metal, like the two being together was a normal occurrence instead of something stupidly rare (if not one of a kind)

  10. I still like Atreyu and Bullet For My Valentine.

I may be one of the metal-iest metalheads you'll ever meet, but everyone has time for catchy music*

As long as it has skill, which I would argue Atreyu and BFMV do.

  11. Started with BFMV , Escape The Fate , A7X and Korn

Still listen to them all but moved more into Metallica and Tom Petty lol

  13. I was getting down to the 200's Hip hop and R&B station on spotify. So many memories. I heard Best Friend by 50 Cent and remembered how much of a G-Unit fan I was hahaha
