university and college and life

  1. my parents say "go to university so at least you'll have a baccalaureate." and i say "i dont want to go to university because its just a baccalaureate".

i see my parents and the last thing i want is to be like them. they work jobs they dont like from 8 to 5, and then spend their evenings in their work. they dont do anything fun except watching a bit of tv. unfortunatly, i feel they arent the only ones who live like that. actually, imo, they only exist... they're not really living. they went to uni, got married, got kids, work to pay a big house that yhey dont like and they are okay with it.

right now my goal is to have enough money to move to another country for a few years, and i want to continue on moving all around the world. i'd love to live a nomadic life, work little jobs with no stress and dont be obsessed with materialistic possessions. smoke a lot of weed also.

i believe that being educated is very important, knowledge is power, but there are a lot of other ways to educate yourself. read, travel, observe, research, think, etc. Stop buying all the crap you don't need.

i feel like i'd be happier making less money, having less stuff and traveling but having time for myself, not stress, doing what i love. i only have one life and id rather spend it poor than in a office. maybe some peoples idea of a perfect life is working an office job, and thats perfectly ok! it might be your dream but me its my nightmare.

I JUSt really dont wanna live the same kind of life that a lot of people Are living and i am determinated to find a way to help people living a REAL good life.

so all that to ask, what is your opinion on university/college? what do you wanna do? are you happy and enjoying life?

  2. I am currently in college, but I wouldnt be if I wasnt studying something that I am extremly interested in and want to spend the rest of my life doing. I think college can defiantly make your life easier in terms of finding jobs, making money ect. But only if you pick the right major and work hard at it. I personally am studying agriculture, which I wont make much money off of but I believe the knowledge and expierence are worth it(especially because my college is cheap as fuck).

But, college is not necessary at all. Especially with the life that it sounds like you want to live. As long as you think you are fine with having less stuff, then follow your heart and travel the earth, you will be a much happier person than if you went to college and got a desk job. Plus, when your older you can always go back to school. You dont have to go to college right out of high school.

  3. College isn't for everyone. It truly isn't. I know what I want. I want to work on spaceships. I want to be at NASA. To do that, I need a degree. If you know what you want, and you don't need college to get it. Then don't go. That is a HUGE amount of debt for something you don't need. The only thing that helps me sign these loan papers is the fact that the average starting pay for my position is almost sixty thousand dollars. I can't imagine paying upwards of 40,000 dollars to get a degree to do something that will make me miserable. Ultimately, it's your life. You're the one person who has to deal sith your choices. If you want to travel the world, and be high while you do it, then do that. I know I'm going to be as high as the projects I work on.
