    Hi Everyone,

First off I wanted to say thanks to everyone in this community. Its has been a priceless resource for information and tips.

This is my first indoor grow..I will come back and post some photos from costruction to final harvest later.

For now I just have a quick question.

I'm growing a WW in soil medium from seed, purly organic. No nuts, additives, blooming agents etc. There was a fantastic thread on here I found about pure organic soil mix i came across earlier that has worked amazingly... Anyways, getting off topic..

So ive got two plants under 600w , vegged for about 8 weeks, MH for veg 18/6, then HPS for flowering 12/12.  I've been flowering since Aug 17, so about 11 weeks, now the seed suplier said flowering is 8 weeks and ive read that most people end up flowering closer to 10/11 weeks for this strain.

Looking at the trichomes they seem still mostly clear but the hairs seem to indicate that its should be close to ready. My question is is it normal for this strain to stay clear for so long, and when the trichomes change from clear to cloudy is it a gradual change or a quick one, meaning if I leave this for another week lets say will this all of a sudden change. Seems 11 weeks is already quite long even for this strain from what i've read.

Now, the only issue i had was MH bulb that died close to the end of the veg cycle so had half day maybe of no light,  it triggerd flowering and rather then trying to veg any longer i decided  shortly after to go to flower anyways.

Any ideas suggestions or confirmation if this is ready to harvest would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    J

Here are some pictures, sorry about the poor quality but hopefully enough to diagnose issue. The pic of the bud was taken couple days ago, the trichomes was about a week ago. I checked them yesterday and they looked about the same so didnt bother taking more pics as its a pin in the arse to hold my blackberry againt the magnifer. :)

  2. When did the plant first show signs it was female?  Personally I start counting days in flower from when it first shows signs of sex, not when I flip the lights.  Never grown White Widow so I can't give much advice except I would give it another week and then chop.  The pistils on the bud can still recede quite a bit more and of course would give time for trichs to amber up.

Cut down on the light, perhaps even 8 hours light and 16 hours dark.  Try to lower the temps to mid-high 60s.  Flush the soil with ice cold water.  Smack it around a bit :p  Anything to stress it.  That might speed up the ripening process.

  3. I'd say it needs another 10-14 days

  4. Yup.... not enough amber.... wait.

  5. Thanks for the feedback... I'll try all the suggestions... I can give it another week, as Im going away the following. But ill try to stress it over the next few days to see if I can excelerate the process.

How late can I leave it flowering without water?... Thinking that if i do extend it for two weeks can i keep it hydrated for this week then leave it without water for the last week while im away on holidays..

    Ideas?

  6.
why in the world would you have him do any of those things?

OP: if you notice that they're done swelling and just kind of ripening then you're probably good anytime within the next 7-14 days.. depending on how you like your finished product to be.

  7.
let it get thirsty, its days are numbered anyway. think about what happens with nature. if you do want to keep water to it pop tiny holes in gallon milk jugs lid on and let them slowly drip.

too bad you are trying to rush things, nothing works better than time itself.

  8. Actually would rather not rush things and let nature do its thing. Im just worried as the nutrients in the plant are being sapped and leaves going yellow, not sure if it can reach that trichome sate I want, buds are also quite heavy, had to stake the main stalk a while ago, and now the individual branches are straining at this point as well. So just trying to get as much optimum potency as I can while the plant is still strong enough to sustain itself. Now at this point its close anyways but would rather try get the full benefit of what the WW is know to deliver.

    AugustWest,

As far as what im looking for for finished product, nothing like couch lock, so thinking 50/50 clear/cloudy with a few amber's for good measure. :)

But seems like the consensus is to leave the plant for another week at least...I'll check the trichomes then and see how they look and how the plant is doing then hopefully can do another week without problems.

And Snoopdog, fantastic idea for the watering while away.. might have to try that..

    thanks

  9. Trick the plant into thinking winter is right around the corner.

  10. I don't water my plants at all the last week.  Heard it helps speed up the drying process, not sure how true this is but just something else I do.

  11.
me too, why fill it with water right before you start the drying process. I also believe the plant gets extra frosty trying to keep water in.

  12. thats what switching to 12/12 does. what exactly does the ice water do?

  13. Id let it go a week more at least, let those trichome cloud up more. I never count the days or weeks i just let my plant tell me when shes ready.

  14. Thats what im thinking, let it get nice and cloudy.. I'll water it as usual till the day i leave for holidays which is about 10 days from today, then let it sit the last week while im away without water then harvest as soon as i get back.

I was just worried that I did something wrong or had some issues with the plants as I didnt realize flowering is that long for this strain or can very this much from one person to another.

I'll be curious how the high will compare to the batch i have curing right now, same WW seeds but I grew them outdoors at a friends property a bit north of me.

  15. Just another way simulate the coming winter and perhaps accelerate the ripening.  Also just another theory of mine.  He's going to wait it out though so...

  16. Another thing im thinking is also drop the temp and and as Airf0nz0 suggested maybe drop it to 8/16 for cycle. Right now at about 40% hum, and temp ranging 70-77. Will try to drop the temp closer to 60.
