Hi all. Im germinating Auto Kush Ryder seeds right now and i'm about to plant themin Coco (coco tek) soon. I will be using Jungle Juice from AN and will use the H3ad formula. I have another post up about this but in the wrong section. Here goes....

Made a grow cab with dimensions of 10 1/2 x 23 x 27 inches. 3.87 Cubic ft. At first I had car sun reflector on the walls with 8 14w CFL lights *only thing I can afford for now), a DIY carbon filter, a pc fan with a 48cfm for the exhaust and passive intake holes. The cabinet would go up to about 85f.

    This was the setup

Got some advice from the other post. Changed to mylar for the walls since it seemed like the car sun shades were insulated. I also removed the filter for more air flow and got an 87dfm fan. I also added bigger intake holes. This is now the set up

I added more holes and still nothing. I have higher cfm and still goes to 83.5. Should I add another fan of the same CFM parallel or in series? Does anyone think that would help? its a very small space. I have another pc fan with the same supposed speed and another with a speed control but its highest cfm is about 48. I dont want the plant in soo much heat.

The help will be greatly appreciated!

  2. A small fan inside there to move air around inside helps a lot, it mixes that fresh new air being pulled in with the old hot air so you don't get pockets of hot air in there.

Make sure your fan is properly powered or else it will not perform at its full cfm rating. Let us know what adapter you're using to power it.

If your ambient temperature (temp outside grow space) is high then pulling that air inside the box is not going to help you at all. Let us know what your ambient temp directly outside the box is.

I also believe the 14w cfl's are slightly less energy efficient than the 23 watters, and any energy that isn't converted to light is converted to heat. This means watt-for-watt, the 14w run hotter than 23. Switching to 4 or 5 23w cfl's may lower your temps.

    Oh and good luck

  3. go 23 watt cfl's, even higher if you can, this is the prime issue of kids growing in shoe boxes  ...lol

  4. lol theres some saftey issues as well... realistically that setup is not going to work.  sorry dude.  if you REALLY feel the eed to continue your mission at this point, get rid of that computer fan, goto home depot and in the ducting section youll find a 230 CFM inline fan.  use a 4" hole saw cut a slot and install it.  that willl put enough air out of there to cool it down.  but seriously you should really just drop that box off a cliff and start over.

  5. @vostok it's a discreet thing bro. That's why i have to keep it small for now so i want to make it work. Im at 83. It ain't that bad for it not to be done from what I've seen people go through on these posts. But I think imma do the higher wattage and that inline fan like you guys suggested. Thanks for the advice.

  6. Up your wattage. Plus HIDs, I've heard, are necessary for autoflowers to yield properly. A CFL at almost any wattage is safe from detection

  7. Don't just tell him his box is shitty, help the man. Keep your box and buy a can fan. All you need is light, air, and nutrients. which you have. What's your ambient room temperature (temp of your house.)? This plays a large factor because its pretty much the lowest possible temp you can achieve unless you bring in fresh air from outside. Like the first post said try using a clip fan or another cpu fan to keep the air circulating inside the box. Or point it on the lights since it's them producing the heat. The problem I see is you have way to much intake. your exhaust should be 1/3 less the size of your intake. So if your exhaust is 4" you want 6" of intake. If you hear your fan fluddering this means your introducing more air then your fan can exhaust. I personally would have put exhaust on one side of the box and my intake on the opposite side, this way the air has to be pulled horizontally and vertically across the box replacing all the air, where as your set up is pulling air in and directly to the fan. I took firefighting in college. Learning about ventilation and dispersing heat on a very large scale came in handy. Hope this helps.

  8. My grow room stays at 72F but it is 14 feet X 12 feet. I say ditch the box thing too. Just hang the mylar curtains to reflect wasted light.

  9.
did you read my post? i told him how to fix the problem.  and your the one who said his box is shitty, not I.  im just being REAL when i say ditch the box. its not practical and its a fire hazard.  YOU should know that MR FIRE FIGHTER (thanks, if you actually are a FF)BTW

Yeah i read it, "you should really just drop that box off a cliff and start over." Isn't the kindest way to help someone looking for advice. Now your directing your arrogant sarcasm towards me. In reality your helping no one. Anyways w.e  :bongin:

*and i agree with your advice
