easiest way to make a 1 gram hash oil edible

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by 420blazeitfaggot, Jul 14, 2013.

  1. i have 1 gram of hash oil and im not sure how to make an edible with only one gram, i have chocolate and coconut oil and id like to use either one but id like to get high as soon as possible so whichever way is easier and less time consuming would be best. once again, i already have the hash oil so i dont need a whole recipe on how to decarb it, i just need a recipe for either chocolate or coconut oil and if the recipe is for coco oil what is the best edible to make with that

If the hash oil or concentrate is still smokeable or vapeable, then you will still need to follow an oil recipe if you want to make it edible so you can absorb an acceptable amount of its potency (and you may even still need to decarb it, depending on how the concentrate was made). :)

If it's still smokeable, this is the tutorial you'll want to follow..... you can either redissolve in alcohol and begin from the beginning to perform the transfer, or you may proceed by processing directly in coconut oil and continue heating for the required amount of time suggested after the concentrate dissolves into the oil.
Remember that it's not just a matter of dissolving hash into oil well enough 'to the naked eye'; once dissolved on appearance they still require additional time and heat exposure in order to form the bioavailable solution that allows your body to absorb the active material, otherwise you may eat it and not feel a thing, or in order to compensate for what your body passes through without absorption, you will require multiple times the material in order to achieve the desired effect.

Otherwise, if it's already been made into an edible oil, you can put it in anything and you wouldn't even need any more coconut oil...  you could even cap it up, or take it as it is. You can mix it with your salad dressing, put it in a quickly melted chocolate then eat it as a syrup or allow it to harden and set up again, you could drizzle the oil on a sandwich, make it into a single serving lasagna, add it to your soup or pasta.

If it's already edible oil, it's really up to you at that point what you decide to make with it. :) Just don't go frying anything with it! :p

  3. it is still smokeable, and id like to use the coconut oil, so i should just heat and mix the two on low temp? and if so about how long shoiuld i mix them?

Roughly at least two hours at 212 F - 220 F is a good starting point to produce a bioavailable solution of currently existing cannabinoids, and can encourage the continuation of any further needed decarboxylation if an attempt to decarb has already taken place, but the bond wasn't entirely broken for a portion, and any carboxylic acid intact cannabinoids may still remain.

(I provided that temp range to cover the more common methods you may choose to use, for instance a double boiler keeps things closer to the temp of boiling water, or roughly 212F, and in the oven we can set the temp to hover slightly higher than boiling water, closer to the decarbing point near 220 F, both of which remain well below the vape points of your most fragile cannabinoids).

A great many patients and several folks over in the CannaPharm, myself included, like to go for 3.5 - 5hrs depending what we want from our oil: less time for a more cerebral and functional high, which can potentially induce a little anxiety in higher doses (esp when beginning with freshly harvested/dried herb), and you'll want to process a little longer for a more narcotic, sedative, couch-lock sensation due to the additional formation of the THC metabolite, CBN. :)

The above guidelines are most accurate when you know the state and condition of your material. Older and poorly stored herb will produce sedative effects with less processing, than freshly dried herb of the same variety from a current crop, for instance, and that's good to know before you begin so you can have an idea how long you'll need to run your oil!

I mention this where, with a concentrate that you may have purchased from someone else, it's a bit harder to say what condition the herb was in before they started, and you also may not be sure how they've purged or treated it after the fact.

Being unsure whether it's already a bit degraded, or older.... if you have more hash than you'd smoke in a day and enough for several doses, then you can always start by combining it with a little more oil than you have hash, just over a 1:1 ration, then process the blend for just the minimum few hours, stopping at least once about half way through, to **manually agitate the hash oil with the back of a spoon if needed.

Once you've processed for the bare minimum, sample the equivalent of a daily portion. If that's not sedative enough, just continue heating the oil that remains, and try another dose the following day. :)

(**Manually stirring, pressing and scraping to get your hash going in the warm oil, is a good idea, where certain plant waxes and other inert impurities that are soluble in butane and other solvents, but aren't soluble in oil, can make it slightly difficult for the oil to penetrate and reach the glandular material you want without some initial help.
It's not something many folks consider or realize, but even without those impurities, it's faster and easier for oil or any solvent to extract directly from tiny, individual and loose trichomes, than from a solid blob or a solid streak of concentrate. This is why concentrates can require just a little more effort than canna oil, during the oil portion of the process, rather than a little less. Although, you don't have to worry about straining in the end with a premade concentrate, except to remove any remaining waxy impurities :p

Anyhow, after it's been heated with the oil initially, then loosened and broken up manually to create more surface space, and the oil begins to penetrate and make contact with more of the material, things begin to move along quickly on their own :) ).
