Federal legalization? I'd say around 2025. But I think the feds will openly accept state-level legalization within the next year.
well i bet it will eventually be legal in all states and the feds will just forget about it but i dont think it will ever be legal on a federal level i just dont see it happening either nothings going to change or it going to just become unenforced
I predict around 2020. It depends on who is elected to congress between now and then though. I think all, or at least most states will legalize before the feds do. That's how alcohol prohibition ended.
It was. But the states repealed first, then the feds followed suit when it became clear that the states didn't want alcohol prohibition anymore. The feds are slow to make changes and admit wrongs. Usually the states have to lead the way first. That is most likely how cannabis prohibition will end. And even if the feds end prohibition first, the states will have to repeal it one at a time because they all have their own scheduling guidelines, and Cannabis is a schedule I controlled substance in 48 states.
Start building a "Grass roots" campaign in your state to REPEAL the asinine drug laws not Legalize the cannabis industry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not true. The 18th amendment was repealed in 1933. Many states continued prohibition after that. Mississippi did not repeal its state prohibition until 1966. Some counties and towns still prohibit alcohol (although no states do). On topic: I think we will see an incremental change at the federal level. First federal law will be changed to allow legal states to operate as they wish while still maintaining federal prohibition. Eventually federal prohibition will end altogether, but it will not be until after several incremental changes. If I must guess a date I would say another 10 years, so 2023.
I would say if it doesnt happen in 10 years, it never will. We will just be stuck in this limbo stage of states allowing it and shit. Like most other countries with relaxed weed laws.
with as many states that have jumped on the bandwagon to legalize in the last two and a half months alone I'd say the Feds have to catch up within the next 10 years. Less if more states successfully push/start legalization campaigns. My most optimistic prediction says within 6 years, my most pessimistic within 20.
More states need to get on board before its changed on a federal level. A lot are starting, but we have a long way to go unfortunately. I'd guess that within the next 5 years most or all states will allow access to medical marijuana and hoping more will follow in the steps of Colorado/Washington in legalizing it for recreational use
