AeroGarden: Dedicated Cloning Setup

I have a small closet style setup in progress at a friends place, multiple shelves in different stages of growth/flowering all scrog. I acquired an AeroGarden at a flea market dirt cheap I never saw much use in them BUT it might make a good cloning machine I saw a thread on it. My closet is entirely soil-based so I would need a way to transfer them from the AeroGarden to soil vegging, I usually clone with soil and "powder" I never had any success with rockwool and the "gel" so cloning in this would be along the lines of my last failure.

I would have to find some sort of disposable cup that fits in the holes and core them out as much as possible but enough to hold hand cut pieces of rockwool, this way the cup can be easily cut away and disposed leaving the rockwool root ball that can be planted in soil?

I'm thinking about this more and I might not have to worry about cutting the root ball out of a plastic basket to transplant into soil after-all. Instead I could simply keep 2-3 strains in the AeroGarden as mothers, then take clippings when my veg box is moved over to the flowering box to refill the veg chamber it would just take a little longer to establish roots in the veg chamber. I'm modifying the light hood to accept standard screw-type bulbs (three actually)

If I can pull off tight nodes like this in a MINIATURE solo cup I think I can grow some compact mothers in an AeroGarden:
