What Are Ideal Seedling Conditions?

  1. Whoever can give me good seedling conditions will be put in a new thread "Ideal Seedling Conditions" and be given full credit. I'm looking for wind conditions in ratio to height (Example: 1 inch= 3 mph of wind), when to transplant to bigger pots, how long a plant can survive without light, what will happen if they only get light 2 days back to back of 12/12 sunlight and the other 5 days they only get about 2-3 hours?

  2. Well, from my own experience I have found that seedlings like the following:

    1) Plenty of humidity for the first few weeks
    2) Lots of light but dont have them too close to the plants.
    3) Damp soil but dont over water them. They need oxygen at this stage so the soil should be airy and loose.
    4) Distilled water for watering

I used a 24/0 light cycle for my seedlings. I had daylight temp CFLs for lighting. They did well and grew nice and bushy which is what I wanted. If you dont give them enough light they get pissed off and stretch. Not good. I cant comment on the wind except to say that a little wind is good for the stem. Too much will cause some stress at this young age.

Thats what I can tell ya.
