I began this year's grow with 7 plants at the start of the summer. After a couple attacks from rabbits, deer, whatever I'm down to one female that somehow managed to grow back from being a little stalk and mangled leaves to around 8 inches now with healthy dark green growth up top. This is my CONCERN... While new growth is healthy the older fan leaves have started to die at the tips, then the leaves start curling down and in, then they yellow, and eventually die. I'm going to assume its nutrient or PH problems, but I'm not very experienced with all that. The plant is still tiny but started to flower already and I want to know what are the best, quickest, and most effective ways to put my plant back on track so that it will not hamper bud growth/potency and so I can make the best out of my little girl. I'm not sure whether to stop watering and see if I'm overwatering, when and how often to fertilize her, etc. so I don't worsen the problem. Hey andy, I have the same problem this year and last. When plants begin to flower they use up stored nutrients in their leaves to grow the buds.. I was freaking out last year because I thought my plant was in big trouble, but really it turned out fine in the end. This year, 1 plant is all green and 1 plant's leaves are dying quite rapidly. I'm not to worried about it, but you can feed your plant some N which can help. But I don't think you got much to worry about aslong as it keeps flowering.
I'm just concerned because the plant is small, growth is pretty slow, and the tips are of even some of the healthier leaves are starting to die and turn brown. The majority of the plant is green and healthy, but I donno if there is a problem that is hampering growth.
I've been using some high nitrogen Miracle Gro mixed in with the water. I think I need to switch to a flowering fert tho. What's the best way to go on that? -Andy
3) Over Fertilizing - Signs of over fertilization include: dead/burnt leaf tips/margins and leaves curling under. Solution - Check and adjust the pH level as necessary. Flush and decrease the fertilizer/nutrient level.
