Orange Peels ReHydrating weed

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by WeedIsYummy, Oct 29, 2012.

  1. I remember reading somewhere online that if you put an orange peel in a jar/bag with your weed it helps to add moisture to really overdried weed. Can anyone vouch for this and also give me an idea of how much I should use?

  2. ive done it and it sort of worked. i barely left the weed in long enough though, i just wanted to smoke it asap...which i advise you do as well.

also dont do it to your entire stash though because it can mold over time

Ill just be putting small pieces of orange peels (maybe an inch long and a half inch across if that) in two different bags (one with 2.7 and the other with 1.7)
Ill try to post results tomorrow because I'm letting it sit overnight

  4. Don't let it sit for more than 12 hours. I'd let it set for a few hours, take it out, let it rest for a few hours, check it, and then add more orange peels (lettuce works also) if you need to. Good luck!

  5. a small piece of bread works too, or an apple chunk.

  6. whats the purpose of hydrating your weed again?

  7. Really really dry and old weed is harsher to smoke . Personally if I ever get weed that old/dry , I either f**k up somewhere or it was shitty weed I got at a discount from my dealer so I can make food with it and I'll dry it myself ( or get it dried if it was stuff he couldn't sell ) so the taste is more subtle ( since it's shitty weed anyway nobody gives a f**k about the taste ) .

It's a win-win because he lose less money by selling it to me at a discount then if he had thrown it away and I don't have to use my pricier better quality '' smoking weed '' to make food ... generally it goes arround 30-50 bucks an ounce of low quality '' food weed '' depending on the ammount of stems and trims in it ... gets you high for less then half the price .

  8. if you wouldnt smoke it than what makes you think it would be a good idea to eat it?

Why waste weed just because it's older/dry or because it's trims ? And I'm not talking about heating it in the microwave for 15 seconds and putting it on my peanut butter , I'm talking about baking stuff with cannabutter . I'm a diplomed pastry chef , man .

Actually a better question , why waste perfectly fine buds every time you cook ? I can understand if you want to make something that will have a pronounced weed taste , but most of the time the taste is masked by something else . So , why waste ?

    EDIT :

I think this links up to what I was saying on the other thread OSUB ( about the first timers not getting high ) . It's the same attention seeking , who's the coolest stoner syndrome : '' Eh , I only cook with the costiest , dankiest shit I can buy , 'cause any less wouldn't get me high ! I'm a veteran stoner ! Those 4 brownies we just ate cost me $40 each ! ''

  10. Update: I let the peels sit for 9 hours with the bud and the results are good. The weed was back to a normal moisture and I could notice a difference in the potency of the smell aswell. Would do again.

  11. what if you have dank trichome-d bud thats dry as hell?

Rehydrating weed doesn't make it anymore potent..

  13. "dank trichome-d bud"

what the fuck does that even mean

  14. try using a carrot piece instead. far less risk of introducing mold...and it doesn't add anything, rot, ooze liquids full of sugars all over the herb..just moisture and maybe a hint of carrot smell.

used carrots for the last few decades, works best.

  15. I've never heard of orange peel being used to re-hydrate bud, but I'll have to try it!

I have only ever heard of it being used during the curing process in order to create a more tangy aroma

  16. I heard of people using q-tips and water for the same reasons

  17. q tips are so unnatural, use your own dried and cured pubic hair

  18. Use to use apples and orange peels back in the 70's to overdry herb. Can say I haven't had to since then.

  19. It's not about making it more potent, if the weed is more hydrated the smoke is smoother. You can even test it, take a nug and let it get really dry, and compare it to one fresh out of the bag, and you can feel the difference in the smoke.

  20. lol translation: dank frosty bud, ie. bud which is densely covered with trichromes.
