  1. Hi everyone,

So ever since 10th grade or so I've had pain in my shoulders and my right knee, possibly due to swimming. Anyway, after I started smoking I noticed that I felt better overall about my shoulders, I was able to continue to compete on my swim team senior year. Since I was caught smoking on campus and put on probation, I have been having chronic pain in my shoulders again (smoking never got rid of it, just made things feel better to where I could exercise/rest/sleep without hurting), and I began to consider applying to get MMJ.

I also think it would help with my insomnia, which I've had for as long as I can remember (about four or five).

The thing is, I don't know how this would affect Financial Aid (I'm assuming nothing will happen based on the topics I've read, it's still better to be safe than sorry, however), or how it will affect getting jobs in the future. If it has any possibility of jeopardizing my fafsa, I don't really feel inclined to even try for a card, it's not worth it (at the same time it's not worth smoking illegally)....I'd rather deal with the pain and get through school, then worry about it in a few years and stuff. At this point I'm rather wary about anything involving marijuana, so I want to get as much information as possible.

    Thanks for any help.

  2. I feel you brother. I injured my knee in a hockey game in tenth grade and I'm starting college at EMU in the fall and I can barely walk anymore. I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease following surgery. Pills ain't SHIT compared to the plant. I just got my card today.
As far as financial aid, its highly unlikely but it may be possible. Your health records are protected by HIPPA. This includes your registration with your state's MMJ program. However, should your patient status become public, in court perhaps, then you may be in a sticky situation. But if you stay within michigan's borders, possess no more than 2.5 ounces of useable medicine (bud), and if you plan on growing having no more than 12 plants at a given time, you stand little to no chance of having a marijuana-related trip to court. As far as a job goes, an employer can still fire you for testing positive for THC, regardless of patient status. My advice would be to form a good impression of yourself towards the boss, and be open and honest about how it helps your pain. If he turns you down, then at least you didn't waste each other's time waiting on a drug test. No one likes pain. At the end of the day, it's nice to have a little bit of time when persistent severe pain turns into mild discomfort. Pain itself can also cause a person a great deal of stress. Any rational human being should understand this. If he says no than unfortunately you are out of luck. But it definitely sounds better coming from you than from a piece of plastic dipped in piss, IMHO. Hope this helps.

  3. Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna try other means for the pain before applying for a card (i will admit that I'm on probation right now, but weed has been the only thing that has actually given me relief, so my life has sucked in more ways than one since february). And I agree, pills haven't done anything, vicodin was probably the second best for relieving pain the one time i tried it, but that's something I want to avoid like the plague.

If I end up getting a card (I don't know how the process works), I'll be sure to keep to the rules, and keep it private. There's no way I'll abuse the thing that I feel helps me.

  4. I agree. This is pretty much my last resort as well. I have had to miss almost twelve months of school over the past two years because of my pain. Valium helped me the most when i had a really bad flare up, but i usually passed out. Vicodin, baclofen, cyclobenzaprine, prednisone, amytriptyline, and a few more that I can't remember did nothing, as well as all the OTCs. I hope I don't have to rely on it for the rest of my life, but I didn't ask for this to happen and I have found relief in a dead flower that has extraordinary medical properties and ZERO side effects. It makes my life better, as well as countless others. We shouldn't need the government's permission to consume a plant. But until the politicians stop giving felatio to big pill-pushing drug companies, we are left with no choice but to take part in a program that operates in a gray area, with laws being amended almost monthly.
What part of michigan are you from? I'm detroit metro. I went to a doctor in farmington hills. Everything was pretty legit, everyone was very understanding in how cannabis really provides relief to so many people. The staff were very friendly and professional, and I got 25 bucks off for mentioning their add on local dot com. 100 for new pts and 75 for renewals.

  5. 1) Can't discuss other drugs on gc, legal prescribed or not.

    2) Please review the "Do you qualify" sticky thread and if you still have questions, ask in there
