Should I keep smoking this Philippine Hash?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by greenops, Apr 27, 2012.

  1. What up GC?

I'm currently on vacay in the Philippines and just got me some Hash.
Now I been here before and I remember the hash here isn't much different than I get in Europe where I live.

But this hash right here, is very hard. Only when heated am i able to pinch and form the hash. It smells like rubber, and the inhale tastes a bit like metal. Doesn't taste like the hash i'm used to.

The effects are ok thou... like my face gets numb. I just wanna make sure this hash doesn't have any additives and shit... What u guys think?

  2. I don't know a TON about hash, just by looking I can tell that it ain't the best quality hash.

The hardness isn't the problem, I don't think, just sounds like shitty hash. But if it gets the job done, smoke that shit up!!

How much did you pay for that chunk?

  3. Probably isn't very pure hash, almost all hash has something added to it. Probably won't kill you, but if you wanna be safe - sell it.

  4. Smelling like rubber and tasting like metal in pretty much the 3rd world? I wouldn't smoke it. Granted some 3rd world countries make some damn good hash but I honestly don't think Phillipino hash should be considered even 4th from the top shelf.

  5. Thanks for the feedback guys.
I just dont have no choice at the moment. the buds i got was even shittier.

that chunk on the picture costs about 10 USD

  6. Thats a very good sized chunk for the price. Could be for 2 reasons

    1. $10 is worth a lot more to them than us
    2. sub par quality hash

You decide dude, your body/mind your choice.

  7. Smelling like rubber and getting hard are two signs of a certain unmentionable that also comes from flowers.

  8. hahahahahahaha that plus the numb face = unmentionable hahahahahahahhhahah id wouldnt smoke it

  9. Haha if that's what it is, I'd smoke the shit outta that!! :smoke:

  10. I'd pass on that shit dude

  11. But then again I'm kind of a paranoid person as well. I guess if it gets the job done..

  12. Sounds and looks like opium

  13. Opium doesn't taste like metal, and that shit feels real good..maybe it's just shitty

  14. I visited the Philippines not too long ago. Mid 2015. The hash I got was the same. It was very compressed even to the point I could barely cut pieces off. I agree on the metallic taste but I thought it was from the metal pipe I was using. It wasn't much but noticeable. I bought a nice finger sized chunk. Very squared, very compressed. I don't know if there are any additives or not.

But after having traveled quite a bit in the regions that are most known for hash in the Philippines my determination is this: All the plants there are grown with low grade strains, low THC content, and in not the best conditions, and without the proper nutes to produce a nice plant. With that said these hash bars and others like them are usually from these low grade harvests and the plants are shaken to remove all the crystals then they are compressed using a very powerful manual press. It's very possible and likely that ground plant matter such as leaves could end up in the mix.

Concerning the metallic taste and rubber smell. The rubber smell could be from the plastic wrappings these are usually pressed into. The wrapping is very tight and you have to peel it off the hash like you would scotch tape from a window after a month in the sun. The metallic I thought was my pipe or possibly the spoons and knives I was using. It would be nice to know what other mediums people are using to smoke it.

Another thing that can be done is to visit where it is made. I've heard of people taking tours with locals to see it in action. The closest I got was seeing one location where locals were shaking stalks of marijuana. Perhaps next time someone visits Sagada they can request to visit where its made to confirm the process and the ingredients.
