Medical Marijuana Legalized in Louisiana: "Imminent"

Discussion in 'Marijuana News' started by fatz6179, Feb 25, 2012.

  1. I'm dreaming hard right now, lol. If Louisiana gets medical, Texas will follow suit, guaranteed.

  2. Will it!? Is it big in texas? There are a few growers from down there that kick ass.

Texas is a Bible belt state as well...if Louisiana gets it I'm like 95% sure Texas will too...it will just take time.

A lot of this has to do with religious leaders removing their support from prohibition,,It began when the NAACP endorsed legalization because the way drug laws are racially applied across the nation.

Pat Robertson, bless his lil peapicken heart, helped start the slide from prohibitionist to support for reform.

  5. Only time will tell...cancer rates in the South is rediculous...also all the fertile land in the northern parts of Louisiana can be state farm land for growing...the weather is perfect for marijuana growing..too perfect.

  6. Seems like it might be too humid in that region.

But nevertheless, good luck Louisiana. Every state that legalizes MMJ is a step towards national legalization

  9. How does a state legalize something federally illegal?

So if the Feds were to go into louisiana To bust dispensaries, would louisiana tell the Feds NO?

    Just curious.

That's exactly the question. States vs. Fed. It should be states being able to handle this shit and fed handling stuff that effects all states and the nation (international) but I guess it isn't

  11. Yup,,he called for marijuana legalization several months ago,,there is a youtube video of it.

Dang! They only have facebook log-in! And I don't do facebook (the List facebook is done by a friend). Anyone with facebook want to "play at being Granny"?

I had this nice post all ready and then got blocked!

"Every sensible person fears Alzheimer's. In the 2006 WebMD article,"Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's", Aricept and THC are compared as Alzheimer's drugs.

"THC blocks an enzyme called acetylcholinesterase, which speeds the formation of amyloid plaque in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease.

The Alzheimer's drugs Aricept and Cognex work by blocking acetylcholinesterase. When tested at double the concentration of THC, Aricept blocked plaque formation only 22% as well as THC, and Cognex blocked plaque formation only 7% as well as THC.
    "

Aricept is a poor second best Alzheimer's drug compared to THC! And does anyone have an Aricept bush in their back yard? I can grow cannabis for pennies a dose! For more information about what cannabis can do for you, run a search for "Granny Storm Crow's MMJ Reference List" and learn the medical facts about this safe herbal medicine!

Every sensible person should support the legalization of cannabis! "

All of you SHOULD do a comment in the news at least once a week! It isn't that hard, and I am sure all of you see a MJ article that makes you go "THAT'S PURE BS!".

Well, SAY SOMETHING! Don't let ignorance continue without you challenging it with the facts!

  13. This has to be one of the greatest law enforcement quotes I have ever read:

    Sooo....

We create laws to stop people from doing things that are illegal.

    WOW, what incredible insight!

All states are free to repeal their cannabis prohibition laws. They are under no legal obligation to mirror the federal laws against cannabis.

Some legalization bills are drafted to prohibit local law enforcement agencies and personnel from assisting federal cannabis prohibition efforts. If such provisions were in place in Louisiana then the state would tell the feds "NO" if they ask for assistance in "busting" a dispensary. The feds could still do it, but they would have to proceed without the help of local law enforcement resources.

The DOJ/DEA does not have the resources to arrest and prosecute every cannabis user, or even every person who sells/dispenses cannabis. They rely on local law enforcement resources.

  14. He said it about a year ago.

  15. I live in Louisiana, and New Orleans is pot friendly for sure. Well, the people are in general, not the police. When I went down there for Mardi Gras there was a group of people standing around smoking pot right in front of the cops every block or so. They were pretty friendly and as soon as they realized that you noticed they were all smoking they would offer you some.

The rest of Louisiana is completely different in my opinion. As soon as you leave New Orleans people stop being so friendly towards cannabis. There are people busted every day on the LSU campus for possession. The campus newspaper has a crimes report section that is pretty much all marijuana possession's every issue.

There was a Cannabis activist group that tried to form on campus and start trying to get some policies changed such as how the campus dorms treat kids when they are caught with marijuana. They are immediately turned over to the police and kicked out, but they pretty much condone underage drinking statewide. The state only changed its minimum drinking age from 18 to 21 about a decade ago, so there is still a lot of underage drinking in the local bars where they don't really care what age you are, but if you get caught with the smallest amount of marijuana, they take you to jail most of the time even thought they have the choice to only give you a citation and let you show up to court later. A couple of weeks after that activist group formed, all the major leadership were raided and sent to jail on small possession charges, and the group fell apart soon after because everyone was afraid of reprisal by the police.

So, there may be a growing activist movement and push for medical marijuana and legalization in New Orleans, but the rest of the state is still far from it. I don't see them getting medical or decriminalization any time soon. They did sentence a guy to life in prison for marijuana possession not long ago.

Yeah I can see Marijuana FULLY legalized in New Orleans one day. But Not the other cities.
    .

  18. Yeah, northern Louisiana is conservative as hell. The older generations still think that weed is Satan. These Southern Baptists ruin everything. We just got rid of those anti-gay laws what, less than a decade ago?

  19. What about casinos?
