  1. TL;DR VERSION: Whenever I smoke even sativa, instead of getting high, I fall asleep almost instantly. Why?

I just started smoking a few weeks ago. I'm enjoying it thus far, and it's pretty much replaced my "kick back and enjoy a beer" habit entirely (pretty much only drink when that's the only socially appropriate option now) with more or less no adverse effects, so I'd consider it a win.

The problem I'd like help with is somewhat embarrassing, actually. Almost every time I smoke, it ends with me falling asleep. Or passing out. Whichever definition this happens to fall into.

Here's the pattern: I smoke. Half an hour later, I fall asleep on my couch. I wake up four hours later, no longer high, but still sitting down in the same position as when I started. Look at the clock, it's 3AM. Out cold.

This happens damn near every time I smoke. Sativa, indica, doesn't matter.

Recently, I've been trying to be tricky. I ate an 80MG THC cookie during the day, and actually managed to stay awake and enjoy a little bit of a high. (I seem to have a very high tolerance for edibles, and a very low tolerance for smoked. Go figure.)

I also tried to be tricky this week by slowly smoking more until I was high, but not falling asleep. I was smoking Mr. Nice. I started with two fat bowls, which got me reasonably high. At the peak, I remember keeping thinking to myself, "I'm -painfully- high." But in a good way, if that makes any sense. I vividly remember feeling like my head was in a trash compactor. But again, in a good way. :p

After about an hour, it started to wear off, so I thought I could sneak in another bowl. Instantly asleep. Ugh! So frustrating. I really don't know where the limit is. I kind of wanted to see what was on the other side of "trash compactor"...

Usually, it doesn't get anywhere near trash compactor levels of high. I smoke, I fall asleep, I wake up sober. It sucks. Not very high... Not very high... BOOM, asleep.

Anyone else? Any advice? Next time I might try setting an alarm for an hour or so later and see if I actually -can- wake up during it, but other than that I'm out of ideas.

  2. your mistake is smoking too much.

you need to sit there and smoke 1 bowl. and wait.

just wait. 10-15 minutes and keep yourself occupied.

t.v., video games, reading, walking, talking, whatever.

    do something.

then smoke your 2nd bowl, but put the pipe down

physically after each hit and take a 1-3 minute break

between hits. you'll notice how the cannabis creeps

slowly. the reason you're spacing the hits is because

you need to train and pace your body to find when it

hits you harder. stick to sativas in the 17-20% thc range

    (or lower if need be).

what is your body height and weight/body build?

Thanks! I started doing one at a time this week. I'll definitely continue to try that, but it just seems like there's "I'm a little high", then there's this big old cushy wall of sleep right behind it, and no margin in between.

I'm male, 6'0", both overweight and structurally large.

EDIT: Take a break after each HIT? I'll try that.
