Sorry in advance if this is in the wrong board, since it wasn't a recipe and rather a question about one, I didn't post it in the edible herb board.

So first of all, I'm new here so hi! My question is about how to make brownies. Yes, I've looked already on the internet for tutorials, even on this site too, (This is a very helpful site by the way, props.) but they all vary in how much should be put in the brownies. They all vary as much as 5 grams to 3/4s of an ounce, so being a fairly new to all of this stuff it wasn't very clear to me as to what route I should take. If anyone could share their success stories, helpful links, etc, that would be great.

    Thanks much in advance!

  2. I just made some dank ones today .What i did is took a large pot filled it half way with water and then put a medium pot inside in which to make a double broiler .I then put it on low heat and melted 3 sticks of butter and then added in an oz of shake .i stirred it every 5 minutes for 45 minutes then strained it with a t shirt making sure to squeeze all of the green butter out of the ball .then i just bought a box of ghiradelli brownie mix replace the oil/butter with my canna butter and put em in the oven .delious potent brownies :)

Before going too far, I'm just going to clarify that we're not allowed to discuss dealing or selling cannabis here,
even providing medically/legally is sometimes a grey area discussion-wise. :)

    But on to the brownies....

It's all in the oil... if you make good oil, then you can follow any brownie recipe with success (including a personal favorite
or an old grandmother's recipe you may have). :hello:

A well made edible oil, will provide stronger and more powerful, longer-lasting sensations, from less material than
    you'd usually smoke!

But if you start cutting corners during processing, by skipping steps or rushing the process with too much heat, you'll need
to begin multiplying the amount required per dose, to compensate for what goes to waste!

Besides a varying tolerance from one user or patient to the next, that's why you've noticed so many different 'recommended
doses', and all the differing suggestions for the amounts you should use per batch...

Improper processing techniques are responsible for all the dosage discrepancy and for most all our failed edible stories!

A properly made edible dose will usually require a little less than you'd smoke in a day, to produce stronger, and
longer-lasting sensations. A common 'industry standard' is 0.35g per dose.
In other words, an eighth should cause ten average users, to feel very medicated... but cut corners, and
that same eighth will barely get two or three people where they need to be.

These photo tutorials will get you started, they'll walk you through activating your potency, and promoting bioavailability...
Ideally you'll want to use coconut oil, or (if it's all you can find) clarified butter, for the best effect.

Coconut oil has a good amount of saturated fat, which is great for breaking down cannabis glandular material, and it's
primarily comprised of medium-chain triglycerides which promote rapid, complete and efficient absorption.
MCTs also direct most of your potency through the portal vein and liver, where a potentiating conversion takes place,
causing the formation of the more powerful 11-OH-THC, from your D9THC.

If you decide you really enjoy edibles (or concentrate for smoking/vaping [IMG] ), these tutorials may inspire you a bit, as well...

Even with the same herb, you have options for achieving different effects based on the length of heat processing.

Continued heat processing causes additional cannabinoid conversion and the formation CBN, which can regulate
the experience and sensations provided. :smoke:

When following the above directions, choose one of the below options depending on your desired outcome...

    - For a cerebral, racy and up 'cerebral high', process just as described.

    or

    - For more narcotic, couch-lock, sedated or 'stoned' sensations, continue processing in oil for between 2 - 4
additional hours. This encourages the formation of CBN, and slightly increases the ratio of CBG and CBN to the remaining
    THC.

And some inspiration... here are a few items you can make once you finish up a good oil or tincture. :)

Truffles are super simple, they require three or four simple ingredients, they take about 10 minutes.. and no baking is required!

You can skip the chocolate coating and the 'fuse' for the BOMBS, to make a much more simple PB fudge treat..

Then, you have oil based drinkables...

And with a tincture, you can expand and 'lighten' your drinkable options... glycerin and alcohol tinctures do require
more patience than oils, during processing, however.

    Even sushi is easy!

Alcohol and glycerin hash tinctures in the sushi rice (which calls for mirin, a rice wine, sugar and vinegar... some
sushi rice recipes also call for oil, so hash oil may be used as well), and a touch of alcohol tincture with the water,
that is used to hydrate the wasabi. [IMG]

And if you want something really simple... just pop your oil into capsules when you're done!

These keep better than any other edible.. on a shelf, in a desk, or in the freezer.. and they're always ready for eating. [IMG]

(Some smoking concentrate made the same way as the above caps, minus the oil of course, with a faster wash/rinse...)

Anyhow, these are just a few examples... but I think the post is probably quite long enough! [IMG]

Good luck, and have fun! [IMG] [IMG]
