Your dream outdoor garden

  1. I purchasing land in the pacific northwest. I am inexperienced in growing outdoor.
But what exactly am i looking for. I have done alot of reading and research on outdoor growing but cant find experience. So i guess if people could list a few simple things that land should have to make growing easy.
If you could buy an property what would it have to make growing marijuana easier?
If you could choose A side of washington to live in like south west or what ever what terrain would be the best.

  2. Some important things to consider:

    1) Water - obviously if your land doesn't have water, you cannot grow. Be sure to get your water tested before you buy anything. Also, make sure it is an agriculture test that you get, not the drinking test. Some elements, such as boron, can have very high levels and still be safe for people to drink, but will be toxic to your plants. I've heard some real horror stories of people buying land only to find out that their water, while safe to drink, was toxic to plants. Water is gold so make sure if you buy land that has lots of water resources.

    2) Orientation, slope, and aspect - solar exposure is everything when growing outdoors. A property that has southern exposure is ideal - avoid anything that is on a north facing slope. A slight slope will also get you better solar exposure - a 5% slope to the south will get you the same solar exposure as a flat piece of land 300 miles to the south. Having your garden in a spot that gets sun all day long is important as well. Ideally you want your garden to get sun as soon as it rises, and have uninterrupted sun all day until it sets. The slope, solar exposure, and orientation of your garden makes a HUGE difference growing outdoor. Also be aware of wind currents - you do not want your garden in a spot that gets a ton of powerful wind.

    3) Climate - check out the data on average temperatures, rain fall, etc on the area you are looking at. You need to have lots of sun all summer long with no rain, and preferably a dry warm fall as well. Obviously this is different every year but you can look at the historical data to get an idea of what to expect. Personally I would be skeptical of how well anywhere in Washington one can grow outdoor. You are very far north up there and Washing gets a ton of rain - not exactly the sort of climate that cannabis likes.

    4) Safety - how close are your neighbors? How close is the main road? Will anyone be able to see or smell your grow? What sort of air traffic do you get and are you near an airport? Are you in an area that is known for growing?

    5) Access - how easy is the property and the garden to get to? It is much easier to tend a garden that is easy for you to get to. A relatively flat garden near your hose is a LOT easier to work in that one on a steep slope far away. Can you get power to the garden or to the property? Not being off the grid can makes things a lot easier. Having electricity in an OD garden is a big bonus as well.

  3. Yeah the slope facing the south is going to be a huge pluss if i find that,
WAter it my biggest element i need that pure thanks for the advice.
    appreciate it!
