Your Computer Specs?

  1. hey guys i thought this would be a pretty interesting thread seeing as we have a few gamers on the boards. (And I just bought a new pc :p). For the past..well since I've needed a computer I've had to use my family's 4 year old piece of crap 1.4 P4 with a 40G HD and like a 32MB vid card. Errors every few seconds or so, very sad, I could barely do anything but surf grasscity.

I know it would have been cheaper to build one myself but..I just wanted a computer I could finally play games on again and just not worry about any of the information I put on it.Anyways I payed 750$ CAD for the following from bestbuy haha. was marked down from 1050$

    HP A1730

    19" Flatscreen LCD
    320GB Hard drive
    2.4ghz AMD Athlon X2 4600+
    2GB DDR2 SDRAM
    GeForce 6150LE 256MB gfx card.
    PCI-E slots
    DVD burner
Lots of slots at the front for random cards/HP pocket dealie. :p
Forget what the soundcard is, I have 6 slots instead of 3 so I think its better than my last one haha.

I'm probably going to buy a GeForce 8500, Radeon 1300X or like, something in the price range of 150-200$. I don't have 400 dollars for a radeon 10million.

  2. Imac g5

    ATI Radeon X1600 128MB SDRAM

    AirPort Extreme
    Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

Wouldn't get a PC if you payed me!

  3. HP Pavilion a1540n

    • 3GB installed memory
    • 500GB Hard drive
    • 22 inch flat panel

  10. PowerBook G4. All the good PCs that I've used were home made, but I know little about computer building and prefer Macs, they just come nice, no building needed.

Just wondering, is it possible to make a home made Mac? I know all the parts would be from the same place, but could a geek construct a super apple using apple parts?

  14. No. This is why I hate macs.

If you want to buy a power supply for your computer, you have literally 50-100 brands to choose from at all price ranges in all wattages. But for macs, only apple manufactures the computers. Theres no competition in the mac market.

Macs are made for graphics designers and idiots.

  15. If there is a Dell laptop that comes with a motherboard that allows overclocking, I will take back EVERYTHING I have said my entire life about how Dells are pieces of shit (which they are, unless you fork out $$$ for their high end, which is still sub-par with other laptops in its price range)

  16. Yes, i believe the Dell XPS is the first dell that actually allows overclocking, all i have to do is go to the setup at startup

  17. Phew! The cheapest XPS 1710 is $2300? A high end ASUS or ACER is faster @ 1800ish.

Dell has this crazy monopoly with my college. Massachusetts is in bed with Dell. I hate them with a passion.

  18. I like dell, i also still have a dell desktop that i got for my 13th birthday, over 5 years later and it still hasnt failed me. I had a REALLY bad experience with a sony VIAO though...
