  1. uncircumcised men can get AIDS too! This is silly

  2. Yeah, those statistics that indicate that circumcised men are less likely to contract HIV is deeply flawed. It's been widely criticized by the medical community for over a decade now. It actually represent a very significant ethnocentric and colonial attitude with little medical evidence to support it.

I've spoken to a number of people about this at great length. One of them is a colleague of mine currently doing her Ph.D in cultural anthropology, writing a thesis on genital cutting.

The other one is a family friend who is a Urology specialist who has been practicing for 15 years. He's Jewish too, and he's vehemently opposed to circumcision on a medical basis. A man who definitely separates his personal religious beliefs and his medical teachings.

I'm a very skeptical person, and when I had initially heard the argument that circumcision can help prevent contraction of HIV, I didn't really question it. I'm lucky I know such accomplished individuals who provided me with the resources I needed to be able to be effectively critical.

  6. hahahaha +rep.

its only one quick stroke of the knife and BOOM, no sex transmitted AIDS.
