young seedlings sick?

  1. i've just sprouted my seedlings they are about two weeks minus a few days give or take.
i have them in a hydrokit ph is always around six or yellow, and ppm never exceeds 200 on my meter. when the plants sprouted the first set of true leaves looked a bit dark and fluffy.
now the veins in the leaves and some true leaves are yellowing also most leaves are drooping a bit. most stems are purple which i hear is normal to begin with. am i worrying to much or do i have a problem. im not sure how to diagnose this early in plant life. any help would be much appreciated.

  2. Nitrogen

You need some fast acting Nitrogen.

Got any 10-2-1 guano that you can make a tea out of? That would work like a champ.

  3. im not so sure its nitrogen i would think they would be more yellow. they are sorta lime green. here i will send a pic. im more worried about the drooping and fluffy leaves. take a look and tell me what you think.

  4. i turned the pump on for 15 min every 3 hrs two days before some of them started drooping so i thought maybe that was the problem so i turned the pump off again. ph is yellow ppm at 170 ish. the leaves seem a bit thick and fluffy if that makes sense. they are just under two weeks old and have been in the hydro with just the air pump running since the sprouted in the humidity dome. the water level is just touching the bottom of the rockwhool. temp looks good maybe a little low but is never really dipping below 68 F. i cant figure out why they are drooping so bad.

  5. should i start feeding them nutes because they are two weeks old already? maybe thats the problem, i need help =(
    please

  6. they look fine to me. First rule is dont baby them to death. your stats look fine. I would start giving them nutes at no more then 1/4 strength. there awful small they dont need much atall. might even go 1/8th strength. I think color is fine and see little drooping.could be just getting used to being out of dome.

  7. i tried giving them a mild strength nute at about 350 ppm a 1-1-1 and some sugar daddy.
they are looking a bit better, but i keep getting a high ph when i test it and have to lower it everyday. should i lower it more then once a day?
also my resivoir is becoming mirky and a little stinky after just one day now with the nute solution in it.
what does this mean? excess sodium build up?
could i have to much salt in my tap water and should use distilled?

  8. They shouldn't have needed any nutes until they were a couple of weeks old. They are born with enough to get them started. I agree with darrmann though. They don't look all that bad. Don't overdo anything. It's a really hardy plant. I've seen more cases of people killing them from overdoing it than from just chilling and letting things progress.

Two weeks is when I first start to feed them just about. If I do it before that I use a very very VERY weak solution, basically just trace nutes.

  9. ya they are literally two weeks old today so i gave them mild nutes last night.
im having a problem with murky water.
when i was using tap water it took about two to three days for water to become a bit cloudy.
i added nutes last night came back this morning and the water is already cloudy.
is this a salt build up, or should i just clean my entire hydro kit with h202?

  10. your rez should never be cloudy its a sign of problems here are some suggestions.
    1. . If the cloudiness is throughout the solution I suspect that you have Hardwater as pH values of eight or nine are characteristic.
However, water processing boards may be adding chloromide to the water in your area, which can also elevate pH levels. If the problem is from your water try the following, in order:
    1. aerate the water for 24 hrs,
    2. run the water through an activated charcoal filter or preferably a reverse osmosis unit,
    3. ozonate the water and let stand for a brief period prior to mixing your nutrients

  11. ^^^ More good advice. Personally I think filtered water is a must. I like to know what is in my water so I filter it then add what I want.
