When he flopped on his torture views. What are we real conservatives supposed to do now? McCain isn't what i wanted at all

Speak for yourself, because I'm sure some members here do care. If you don't, then stay out of the topic. In response to the original post... what is your stance on torture? The way I see it, McCain has taken the liberal position because he's been in a similar situation as a former POW. But then when he knew he was running for president again and would have to appeal to the neo-conservative base, he made some slight revisions.
I do not believe in torture at all and I had a great deal of respect for McCain's positions. If he had been against it from the beginning then I wouldn't care much but after he has made it such a big issue and after he has made Vietnam such a pivotal experience in campaign and life, I don't think I can forgive such a huge change in position.
I cant lose something that I never had for the guy. Im against torture as well so this doesnt do much for him
Motherfucker was a damn Prisoner of War, was tortured and I'm fairly sure he's man enough to at least be truthful and honest about that. I'm sure he's felt it and knows what it's all about, and I'm sure he isn't cruel enough to put others through what he has gone through.

I was actually settling in to the idea of having McCain as a president. Obviously far from my first choice, but the fact that he has a remarkably independent voting record and isn't afraid to stand up to Christians was somewhat promising. So much more that.
