I Talked to a guy from Inside sun and he said the first one i showed ya is in a different housing than the second. The guy said that the first one
is better because it has a slotted housing and will keep cooler than the second. But Dang, that second one comes with a free MH conversion bulb. Anybody bought any of these?? The Sooner I get some feedback
the sooner I can order the light and get on with a 'Grow Show'.

    Thanks GC

  2. they're both from inside sun? how much $ for the first one? inside sun warrantees all of their ballasts so i'd go with the 2nd one that has the mh conv bulb, unless the first one is alot cheaper.

  3. You didn't say how much the first kit was.

Conversion bulbs are fairly cheap, and that alone shouldn't swing it.

The ballast in the first kit looks solid, the ballast in the second kit looks like a radio alarm clock. The image isn't giving much away.

  4. It's a USED ballast housing. I doubt that would be covered by the warranty. I'd also be asking why it needed to be removed from its original housing.

  5. The New 400w HPS on Inside sun is 145 plus shipping.

The first one does look more solid but both of them have the same warranty.

The cheaper one isn't an INSIDESUN product, but they sell them. It's the Econo

    version

  6. inside sun warrantes both their new and used ballasts. i'd go with the 2nd one anyway.

  7. yeah man, I think the second one is the better deal. the MH conversion bulb itself is

    $40.

  8. I don't see the pint of the MH conversion bulb. It's way better to have a seperate chamber for vegging, otherwise you are just wasting time.

If the second system isn't InsideSun, I guess the whole warranty thing is moot, but it comes with three years, so that's pretty good.

I'd still go with the first one, because it looks solid, and InsideSun is reputable and well known. It very much depends on what type of HPS lamp they are each sending with the kit. If one send a bog-standard SON-T, and the other an Eye Hortilux, that's a massive difference.

My motto is buy the best you can afford. A great deal looks fine on paper, but when your ballast blows two weeks from the end of your flowering cycle, it won't seem such a bargain.

ps. whichever you buy, get a spare igniter. If anything's gonna blow, that's what it will be.

very good point -mu, but not all of us have that kind of room lol! i only wish i could have two chambers. as it is i'm going to take a clone before i flower and keep it as small as possible in a very small (like 3' square cardboard box w/cfl's) and see if i can sorta experiment with bonsai to keep the mother small until i finish flowering, and then take as many clones off of her as i can. if that works i'll do it in repitition.

  10. Clone mums can be kept pretty much anywhere. Low light isn't a problem, they just grow more slowly. The bonsai mum technique is ideal. I've currently got four parents living like that, and have taken quite a few clippings, even when I don't need them, keeps 'em bushy. I usually smoke the trimmings. :smoking:

And of course you mean, take clones while the first crop is flowering. You want those babies ready to go as soon as the flowering chamber is free. You could have seven or more weeks of vegging, and put some fairly sizable plants into flower. Bigger plants = more budz.

thats what i meant, thanks! so if clones can live on low light, could i concievably take clones and keep them alive, say, on a windowsill or something until my cab is empty? or would they require at least the light from a 4' shop light until it's time? this time i'll clone only a couple weeks into flower as last time i did it when there was big buds, and goddamn it took forever to root and reveg. a lesson learned, i guess. then again i might just use the cardboard box idea....maybe just one clone from each strain and grow those out to be monsterous. too many choices/possibilities. sorry for the threadjack.

  12. I'd say your going to need the shop light. I'd also, go with #2, remember the housing is only the shell, they don't wear out. Whats inside is what counts and that is very likely inside sun products.

  13. Thanks guys for your input. I think you will all be happy to know that I purchased

the 2nd light. With shippin and everything it came out to be $146, not bad eh?

Once the light gets in I'll be A O.K. :D
