Do you guys like to make a slurry and let it sit for a little bit? Or do you like measuring the runoff.. (when watered to run off) I need to check my soil PPMs and i have a pretty good meter.. but I need to get some water to test that’s a good indication of how fertile the House soil is.. I usually only water until I start to see some runoff.. one of my 5 gallon fabric containers is flush against the ground.. (other three are on rolling stands ..) usually see that one suck up anything that is ran off from the others.. it’s pretty cool to see actually.. but anyways..? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
checking soil ec is redundant if you're organic if you are doing DtW, then collect the runoff and compare with the ingoing solution.
So iv heard. But there has to be a way to check the fertility of the soil.. yes I think that’s what I’m going to do tomorrow feed with the compost tea. The whole brew itself is like 1100. It’s meant to be mixed with gallons of water… so I can definitely check the PPMs of the brew going in n then check that runoff? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've not used runoff in organics. Its more DtW, like if I'm growing in peat/perlite or coco, and my solution is 1100, and feed each day and I noticed the RO EC is 800, ok, but then if its 1400, then I'd back off, etc. To really know what is in the soil, there's some meters out there to detect the amounts of N, P, K... although idk how good they are. I've used test kits, but they were kinda iffy. Kinda like these things. I would just follow the instructions from the manufacturer and go from there and wouldn't worry too much about the EC. Doesn't look like any phosphorous in that stuff btw.
ikr, its weird but it also says negligible phosphorus (?) and read .5:6:6 NPK so idk weird. i've never used anything like that before, so idk, but noticed it when we were discussing EC and available ppm. Are you suppose to add something to it, cuz it says after amendment, so idk.
Nope that stuff is ready to use as is. It comes from a company in California. I talked to them and they said that it can last up to a year but I just to take the top off every once in a while. It’s the Bud and Bloom recipe. They also have another one so maybe they just put the original sticker on for that accidentally or something. Because the Npk is .05-6-6 - they have another one that’s more used for the bed state that’s probably the sticker that they put on for that one because they have a couple different kinds. Either way, I also have fish bone meal. But I think it’s made from strain fish bone meal.?? Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
well it's good to hear that you talked to them. Its just like I said, it says after amendments and prior to amendements. maybe what they mean is before they add that stuff, the soil had no phosphorous, and then they added the tea and saw that it increased to 0.5:6:6 or something like that. Weird way to print it I suppose; and you're right, bone meal is source of phosphorous, so it must be the wording is just weird. Like you said, it's from California... so they were probably stoned
Lol right?? I gave them a nice dose of the buds and blooms and (week 5 feeding)I also said a little bit of the 5-2-4 organic plant food on the two on the left because I noticed they were a little less nice n green looking. I added about an eighth of a cup at week five when I’m supposed to use a quarter but I used some of the other stuff too so I didn’t want to overfeed… I have a feeling the next 30 days are gonna be pretty nice on the way to flower.. I think I’ll just keep add or under the scheduled feeding, plus I have this compost tea that I can dilute down. It’s supposed to be good to use up until the last few weeks supposedly - I usually mix it with tomorrow water and I got a quarter tablespoon of molasses Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It’s weird only one branch kind of looks like it’s sort of yellowing .. other parts of the same plan are really vibrant and green.. I should just follow the schedule and keep it simple lol
The purple strain is going to be gorgeous really long fat colas.. the headband just gonna grow more like an OG.. with a fat individual, golf ball nugs all throughout the canopy.. can’t wait to run my new genetics.. I mean I can’t wait to harvest this stuff, but, I like growing because you constantly learn new stuff. It’s amazing. How are frosty The’s new LEDs get these nugs crazy. I don’t know if it’s genetics, but I’ve never seen frost like this at mid way.! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
They do look very nice. They are fading atm; the purple is visible, but its the anthocyanin pigments that are left behind that you see, otherwise they would look yellow. You want a nice fade imo (I do), leach out the green and let it go to the buds, that way you get a nice smooth smoke. Ah I Love growing too bro It's what I'm all about.
I'm organic and keep track of my amendments by reading the odd ppm of each 'sample' lab wize: I take a half a coffee cup of soil add 1 full cup of 30 ppm water (my tap water) shake and strain using old martini bar gear, allow to settle and then take a reading. minus the 30 ppm of the water but it is a rough average, being soil is so difficult to measure in the first place keep in mid the soil will manage the ph and the ppm's to a degree cheers
i have saucers under my plants if i want to check my ppm for curiousity i pour in 1 gallon let sit then a second then let it sit MAKE sure saucer is clean to begin with i use spring water nevermind you cant do it because of the darn nets in your way maybe just think about staking your next grow makes it so easy to arrange rearrange prune rotate ETC BTW my runoff yesterday was at 600pppm you dont need to worry really your organic i am using tigerbloom this run
I actually have pretty decent access to underneath I could still put a saucer under there, even with the net.. my pots are raised off the ground Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
OK lol I see what you guys mean by testing runoff in organic is pretty useless. I got a pretty high number… there’s no way that’s an accurate representation of the fertility of the soil because when I do a slurry mix and then strain n test the water it’s SIGNIFICANTLY lower. Lol. I feel like when you test organic soil runoff you’re just getting a buildup of every single thing that’s ever been in there am I wrong? Because if the reading of the runoff water accurate, my plans would be burnt to a crisp lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
