Plants continue to progressively get worse each day. Yellowing seems to start from the tip works it way down and now being accompanied by these black spots. Some tips are browned off as if they were burnt to a crisp. Any ideas what this might be? Possible Managanese Deficiency? Lockout? Manganese Deficiency due to lockout? Any help is much appreciated. pH? EC/TDS? Do you just feed but not to runoff? Why add TPS Signal if you already add micro and bloom?
I always advise adding 25% perlite to any ffof grow check this: How to Fix Cannabis Nutrient Burn - Pics & Symptoms good luck
I haven't gotten a runoff test was going to wait until next watering since there still wet. Ive been pHin to 6.5-6.7, but not sure about the soil yet. Ive been adding the Signal cause I thought helps increase potassium uptake and terpenes.
You can't assume the soil is in check, and 6.5 - 6.7 is ok, but it's still high; optimal pH in soil is 6.25. And that may vary strain to strain, or even veg to flower. You need to get this sorted first. When I do DTW (like my clones atm), I pretty well check each day; they've been diving to 5.5, so then I use 6.5 to help them climb, but if the runoff is 6.7, I'd be feeding at 5.8. Although they show deficiency, the nutes you are using shouldn't be causing this. The Signal TPS says it's a source of K; you could be locking out Ca or Na or Mg by adding too much K just by having the positive ions competing. Idk enough about that particular product, but generally Lucas (ie. micro + bloom) and some calmag will grow fine dope. But yea, adding a bit of K shouldn't cause a lockout ... unless you are adding way too much. Anyhow, let us know how the runoff looks, or do a slurry test. Should be monitoring that runoff each time you feed...
Yeah I haven't done a runoff test yet plan to next watering. Probably should be checking soil runoff frequently havent done it once this whole run. But I didnt run into the issue till about mid-late flower.
Thinking the same thing, but I read Manganese can become locked out if soil pH is too high or too much Iron is being added. You think the tapwater might have high iron? Not sure but @trojangrower is right I should test the soil see where its at and make sure the soil is in check to begin with. Maybe I got it too high.
have they started flowering yet? how old is this auto from the looks of the leaves if the whole plant looks like this it may be too late! if it were a photo it would be saveable i had mine looking like that a month ago she is a photo i was able to correct the PH and she is green and healthy now do you have a whole plant picture?
Pretty stoned at the moment, Technically FFOF has zero dirt/earth/soil in it pretty much all store bought BAGGED potting soils has zero soil in it.... also why you get certain mineral deficiency. That is in part the root of your issues. THIS WHY I ADD TOP SOIL IN with Bagged potting soil-LESS soil, for the minerals too. Trojangrower is one of the best growers GC has ...................
Luckily the plant that the leaf belongs to in the picture caught the issue late in flower and is about to get the chop tomorrow. However, the last plant of the bunch still has a ways to go and she is absolutely suffering! Heres a picture of it.
So I've checked the soil and the pH is sitting at about 6.1, I did a runoff test so Im not exactly sure how accurate that is. Am I running too acidic? I noticed I only ever seem to run into this issue with Autos cause Ive had this before and I believe I kept misdiagnosing it for Cal/Mag deficiency.
what was the runoff? 6.1 is ok, but you know, the soil u take from the top to do a pH soil slurry test (I presume) may not reflect the soil(ie.media) near the bottom, maybe it's more acidic. You'd normally neutralize with a base, and use a buffer, like lime (calcium carbonate). You can try increasing the pH of the solution you feed. Manganese is part of GH micro. Also, magnesium and sulfate is found of the GH bloom, so no real reason to add epsom. Could it be that the excess Mg is locking out calcium? Also, are you adding calmag? Apart from this, I see the plant fading, which is due to later flowering stage, so this may compound the symptoms.
Correct. I took the sample from the bottom of the pot and tested it. I honestly don't think I fed with Cal/Mag if I did it was only once. Just used GH Micro & Bloom w/ the TPS Signal booster. Maybe I did feed too much Mag? They didnt get the epsom salt till the last 3-4 waterings and may explain why it randomly got bad last minute in flower. GH Micro does have Mag your right, combined with the Epsom Salt might of overdone it. I read the ingredients on the Epsom Salt and it says Magnesium: 9.8% and Sulfur 12.9%. GH FloraBloom has: 1.5% Magnesium & 1% Sulfur. So Im assuming if its that small of a percentage coming from a company that designs the products around Cannabis, it safe to say they only need a little bit? And that me adding the Epsom Salts jacked it up? Look at a few photos of severe Mag excess too and it also shows the spotting and brown splotching chlorosis on the leaves along with brown curling tips.
I'd at least add calmag to your solution. It's just standard for me to add calmag, I even use it when I use hard (tap) water, but less amounts. This ensures I get calcium, magnesium, and iron to the plants. I actually use Calnesium, but whatever. Calimagic I think I needed to double the dose.
I dont look at bagged potting soil as that I more see it as a soil modifier, because I mix in 50% top soil, or sand and pea gravel. Bagged potting soil, Tree bark fern leafs and plant matter soaks up water/ moisture like a sponge, which leads to over watering issues for new growers who dont know what they are growing in. The other issues that new growers using nothing but potting soil -less , soil is there is not enough mineral in it . Again why I mix in top soil ,,, Good luck
I'm sure some bagged soil is pretty good & the only way to go for some but mine is better. lol For me buying "dirt" is right up there with bottled water. I do add asst composts, ewc's etc to my own compost, previous grows soil, pumice, rice hulls to make my own. After 3 years I'll take the pepsi challenge.
