Hello, this is my first grow and I need some advice. The tips of my leafs are going yellow. I was running my nutrients shy of 450ppm and I've lowered it aprox 290ppm. Ive had a steady pH of 6.5 and I'm also using spray&grow. Here are some pics. It's Neville's Haze over 1 week old Let me know what you think. thx.
shit happens...you didnt mention what you are growing in but it looks like rockwwol/hydroton and dwc bucket. therefore your ph is way high. it should be at 5.9-6.1 and the plant in that pic should be getting its first batch of 0.6Ec nutes right now. then 0.9Ec at 3rd node then 1.2Ec at 5th node. do that and they will be fine.
and im not sure what spray and grow is but dont ever spray your plant unless you have bugs or a bad nute deficiency. imo
What brand of ppm meter do you have and do you know the formula to convert the ppm into EC??? do not forget that 1400 ppm on a truncheon is equal to 1000 ppm on a hanna. send me a pm or search The Chart Thread for the table chart showing diff meters and conversions.
Spray and Grow is a very concentrated micro-nutrient, just Iron and Zinc. Very easy to over-do-it. I would stick to your base nutrients until transition and use Spray and Grow then, the rapid growth during transition can deplete a plant. Your plants are way too small to need the boost of Spray and Grow in my opinion.
My PPM meter is some cheap made in china piece...just started growing and probably wont have hi-quality tools and best nutes for a while. As for the conversion, I googled it and checked the charts. I think ill be averaging between the two and just adjust according to how my plant reacts. When I do grab a meter, is there a brand that stands out above all? And I take it the hi-qual ones do pH as well as Ec or PPM? For the spray n grow, as I said this is my first grow and am just going on written instructions that came with my grow box. It says you can't overuse the product. Im growing in a small PC Grow box: Dimensions: 8.1" x 20.6" x 18.6" (WxHxD). Is it too soon if there only going to get 20" tall? and is LST going to give me significantly more yield in such a small area?
I've used the Hanna 3-in-1 combo and liked it. It reads pH, EC, PPM and temperature compensates. There are others though...
foliar spray concentrates on leaf tips and if done prior to a dark cycle will not evaporate fully leaving wet concentrates on tips causing necrotic activities. rot and shock wont occur if you end foliar sprays but continued will likely cause powdery mildews and more necrosis perhaps during flowering which complicates treatment efforts. plus any dead foliage attracts bugs, remove dead leaves and keep the forest floor clean and cultivated. best of luck with those "meds". -D-
