Yellow jackets= ultimate pest control?

  1. Hey guys, repotted and moved the lady. Just Went out to check and found something interesting, yellow jackets are all over my plant (5 or 6 at a time) and they're eating every other little bug on there, leaf hoppers an caterpillars are getting anihalated as I type this. Followed one for a bit and found the nest under a tree stump about 30 feet away. Had no idea yellow jackets even ate other bugs but if they insist I suppose I can manage!

  2. Yep I let my hose drip water 24/7 to make mud. Once you have mud they will come all day to get water and mud. Then they stop and hunt on my plants.

  3. You're lucky, that's a blessing, near an ant pile is good too.

  4. no. ants farm aphids. get ants off your plant

  5. daddy long legs are another that have made my plants the residence

  6. Yup, i was about to kill the nests around my plant but i realized they are beneficial. Then my dad did it for me..

  7. That's weird. Maybe the bees were just pissed off or something. Because I don't think a bee can eat a caterpillar...

Lady bugs are Mary's best friend.

A yellow jacket would smoke a Caterpillae like a fat joint. Yellow Jackets are vicius hunters. Take time to watch one while buzzing around your garden or bushes. If they find a food source the whole nest will be in your yard or bush.

Let your hose drip in your yard 24/7. If you have water/mud AT ALL TIMES they will come and make nest near by. Your drip has to be all the time though. They need a solid wet hole to be able to build nest near by. If your hole dries up every now and then. I notice I do not have as many of them. If I let it drip all summer I have lots of them.

I am willing to bet that the yellow jacket is the king of the bush in my area. Anything in a pot plant does not have a chance. Not sure about Mantis though. But they really are bad ass.

A simple 5g drip bucket all summer would let yellow jacket thrive on your garden. A rocky muddy wet hole works best for me. I have a large canopy of plants. I love seeing them hunt.

  10. thats funny i saw a yellow jacket today!

  11. Well lady bugs wont sting me if I piss them off. So, i prefer them. lol.

  12. Cool videos. Those 30 hornets are Asian Giant Hornets, honeybees are really no match for them. The last video is a Tarantula Hawk. She lays her eggs in the spiders abdomen but doesn't kill it. When the eggs hatch, they eat the still-alive spider from the inside out. Nature is a cruel beast.

  13. They can kill humans too. Like me. I am deathly allergic to those little bastards. They are cool though, but for my own safety I would have to kill them off or move.

  14. I've always HATED yellow jackets but I've certainly just found a new respect for them.

  15. sorry... i'm blazed.

  16. ima stick with lady bugs...who wants to get stung..i got pets....ima pass..good vid but nope..ladybugs all the way

  17. good idea for keeping people away from your grow.everyone avoids those yellow devils

  18. ehhhh...its a cool find. nothing wrong with it..but I dont really see anything that makes them superior to ladybugs as pest control. they might keep people from walking your direction..but a wasp's nest is hardly a guard dog...to each his own.

  19. not a gaurd dog but more of a deturant. if i were hiking and came up on a dog that was chained up i might start wondering who's dog that is.if i were hiking and i came up on a shit load of yellow jackets.it might deture me but it wouldnt make me suspicious
