Yellow Blotchy Leaves - Nitrogen Deficiency?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by ChalupaBatman110, May 4, 2023.

  1. Hey guys,

I'm growing a wedding cake autoflower (RIGHT in picture) which has slowly been lightening green. I am noticing blotchy yellow in the lower leaves as well as yellowing on the top. Compared to her neighbor (LEFT) you can see the difference in the images on how bright green she is. Both plants are feeding from an automated water tank that runs 2 times a day for one minute. I am going to replace the feed because I noticed the ph moved up higher than i had originally thought it was at.

I am unsure what the deficiency could be or if this is nutrient lockout? Tips for how I should approach to fix the issue? Thank you for the help.

Below are my stats and some pics:

    Grow Environment
    Place: grow tent
    Start date: 3/20/23
    Temp: ~ 75 degrees
    Humidity: 55%
Medium: 80% coco coir 20% perlite that's been buffered
Nutes Type: currently on general hydroponics maxigro bloom 5-15-14 at 50% strength
Water Source pH: 6.4ph (I had set it to 5.9 but it seems to have moved up)
    PPM: 443
Other: I have two fans running in the tent, one to create air movement, the other to exhaust

  2. I have used maxi bloom in veg and flower and start the pH at 5.6 and in a few days it will work it's way up to 6.1 which is ok. At about 500 ppm and plants did pretty good in DTW with 20 percent run off 4 time's a day in 3 gallon air pot.

  3. The maxi-series should be run at 7 grams per gallon. I prefer the maxi-grow through flower over maxibloom.

  4. Yes I mixed mine in a 20 gallon reservoir and added maxi bloom until I got 500 ppm and PH 5.6 Screenshot_20230504-161351.png

  5. looks like your wedding cake auto is feeling a little left out of the party with that yellowing. mb she's just jealous of her neighbor's bright green glow? In all seriousness though, it could be a nutrient deficiency or lockout due to the pH being off. try adjusting the pH and see if that helps. if not you may need to adjust your nutrient mix or strength

  6. Also make sure you are getting 20 percent run off on your feeding that's important in coco to keep that salt build up out. Which could cause problems making you thinking it's something else going on.

  7. so the leaves under the very top are green ? Dark green. Only the very top leaves are discolored ? if so raise the light . Bleached the top of the plant . Bottom leaves will show the N issue forming first. So If n issue the bottom will show the issue first. I see light bleaching .
