I got pretty severe fatigue from my last harvest, but I'm still in the scroggin' game. I'm hoping my timing is better this time around and I harvest at most a couple times a month.

I've two Cannalope Haze in 3gal and two Greenhouse Cheese in 1gal under a 240W LED in my 36"x20" tent. They had 2wks of veg time under the LED before I flipped to flower three weeks ago.

The CH are 2mo old pre-flowering clones, and this pheno is a monster. Once under the LED, growth exploded to the point I was getting branches coming from the nodes of branches. Since the flip, I've been pinching leaves nearly everyday to keep light to all the bud sites.

The Cheese clones were still immature, only about a foot tall, and they had no more than 10 branches when I flipped to flower. I was worried about wasted space and low yield. Looking at them now I have to laugh at the serendipity.

Turning to the veg area, this is an Auto Jack (Freedom of Seeds) in a 3gal under 104Ws/52Wd mixed cfl. She showed pre-flowers quite some time ago, but she hasn't started budding out yet. Got a late start on training, but she's not been difficult and has a nice even canopy.

  2. Finally got around to taking pics of my girls. It's been hard to look at them since I missed watering after upping nutes, which ravaged the Cheese but not so much the CH. Didn't think about pics for the Jack Auto, which isn't an auto at all since I had to switch her to 12/12 after the 50 day mark. I'll throw some up next update.

The buds look good and the CH has it's characteristic melon aroma. The closeups here are of the tops of each plant. Now at a full 7weeks, I expect her to start swelling soon.

As expected, the Cheese has a funky mold kind of smell but not overpowering. The girl in the middle I thought was lost because she suffered so much. But they're doing well now and I seem to have dodged the hermie bullet again.

On a side note, I bought a Caliber IV hygrometer. I think I lost some potency during the cure from my last harvest. I noticed I'm get a better high from hash than from bud. Hopefully adding a little QC during cure can help preserve potency.

A few colas have puffed up since last week and more than half are still popping pistils. They have retained the melon aroma into week 9, an improvement over my last grow, and I'm hoping they'll finish up by next weekend at a full 9wks.
I'm shooting for a minimum 60g = .5g/W and it looks like they'll get there, plus all the popcorn. If I didn't damage the root system too much, I'm hoping to pull over 75g. I'm still pissed at myself for not watering on time. I believe I could yield at least 2oz per plant in these 3gal pots. Probably won't find out anytime soon, though. Thinking of trying another strain.

Again, I've learned the hard way that this Cheese pheno is really sensitive to nutes. The middle girl is still getting burnt tips and I've only mildly fed them once in the past four weeks. At this point I'm keeping my fingers crossed for 30g total, or at least an ounce. Still, I'm interested to see what they do in the next couple weeks.
The buds on this pheno are unique in that the pistils are short and stubby, and they don't slope down to a point. So far I've only found one other Cheese journal that has this kind of flower.

OK, the not-so-auto Jack Auto. I'm assuming she's a heavily JH dominant pheno, but I haven't checked around on GC yet to verify. She's filling out nicely under the CFLs in the 4 days since these pics were taken.

  4. I knocked off some popcorn while flushing this morning. I couldn't resist weighing it - 0.75g.

  5. Love the scrog nice and even
but you beat the hel out of them with the nutes.
looks liek thy got nute burned really bad
Cant help but think they may have been much larger had you not overfertilized them

  6. Yeah, I had a real good start until they all went five days without water after I upped the nutes, so they got a pretty good shock. Fortunately, the CH was resilient enough to handle it and they'll still give a good harvest. I may get a vape for the Cheese if she has too much nuked matter after trim.

  7. Hey. I have a similar tent and want a similar scrog. How did you hold it up?

  8. My screen dimensions are 35"x21" to give a snug fit and I used plastic zip ties to fasten them to the outer tent poles. The easiest way to scrog is to wait until late in veg (approx 12"+) before using the screen, when the girl is strong enough to hold the weight without causing stress or damage. If the screen's too heavy or it's early in veg, use a hook or other device that's fastened to the top tent pole.

Last tent update for the Cannalope Haze, both girls are ready to come down this weekend. For those hard-core pervs who like to know what's going on "down there", I've included under-the-screen shots.

I've got a real nice pheno here. Leaves are turning purple with tons of trichs and buds are getting dense. The girl in back is ready, but I need to let her dry out the soil after flushing yesterday.

    P4191466.jpg
I removed most stragglers during weeks 2-4, leaving sites within an inch under the screen. The second shot gives an idea of how much light penetration I get under the screen. The last two show the dense growth achieved underneath.

The Cheese is persevering and has actually grown some nice size buds. Only a few look unsmokable, and hopefully I can trim away most of the burnt leaves on the others.

The Jack is looking like she'll be a good yield. These photos are from today and spans 9 days of growth.

Woohoo, it's harvest day! More to come...

    P4211474.jpg
Most vigorous side branch from rear plant (pics 6 & 7 from last update) came in at 44.8g right off the plant.
Edit: Pic is of second best branch off rear plant, coming in at 33.6g.

There's still close to 50g left on the plants, and estimate I need 350g total to ensure I break 60g dry wt.

A long line of buds, the big branch from rear plant, and the bits too small to hang.

Just barely broke my minimum goal in round one, but there weren't many super-dense nugs like the colas from the girls before. The smell from these two at harvest are much different than before, too, having a rather earthy smell instead the haze spice. I got another 100g wet off what was left, so I reckon that's another 15-18g and right in line with expectations. Goal for the next girl is 45g+.

The Cheese...well...they survived, and probably good for the chop in 4-5days. Trich reading's off the bud sitting on the lid of curing CH - the ugliest Cheese nug I could find, all trimmed. Should be ready to sample in a couple days, so keeping fingers crossed. Hopefully my new Pax vaporizer can make these tolerable if it smokes like crap.

The Jack has filled out and pistils started turning at the end of week 5. Going to get a good yield for sure, approaching 2 zips methinks.

  15. Final dry weight of my two Cannalope Haze came to be 75.3g after removing another 2.5g of stems from round one. A pretty good haul and an ounce more than the last two. I checked out the root balls and discovered a 2in gap to the sides of the pot. I believe this may have limited yield more than the nute shock. The girls also filled 75% of the screen when I flipped to flower, so I'm beginning to think the 3gal may be larger than necessary.

The last round had a week longer to mature, and I noticed the flowers on these had fully turned purple. The first round had purple flowers on the ripest colas, while the less mature were still green with a bit of purple around the top.

I should get a nice hash stash, too - hoping to see at least 3g. Round one's been curing for a week and getting stronger. Looking forward to smoking a few samples next weekend.

  16. Need to choose 3 strains from below. I was set on doing Sour Kush and LA Woman and deciding on Blue Dream or Super Lemon Haze until I read LAW grows rather short with little side branching. I don't think she'll do well in scrog. I also have LA Confidential and Silver LA as alternates, in keeping with the LA theme.

    P5041500.jpg

So I need some input from the blades here. It's BD vs SLH and whichever LA hybrid will be best for scrog. At this point I'm leaning towards SLH since it's a 5pk and I don't feel pressured to clone to keep the genetics.

  17. Blue dream. You won't be disappointed!!

Cheese came down Thursday and I put the Jack in the tent. Older leaves have maybe 5% amber, so I'll give her a week under the LED and see if she's ready to chop next weekend. She looks and smells great! Can't wait to taste a good sample. Only real blemish on this girl is the branch that crept into the light.

My first sample from lower site, trichs around 35:65:<1.

  19. I see your dilema. I have wanted to run blue dream in a screen for months now. But your seed situation with SLH is nice. Remember though, seeds are not a substitute for cloning.

Wow, go away for a little while everything gets borked during the site switch.  Post in the official bug thread for help on the missing inline attachments and I get berated by the coders for not searching the forums.  I'll be glad when this bullshit is over with.
