  2. lol "copies"

  3. What method did you use?

  4. i used jungle flasher. i am getting a xbox with a liteon drive tomorrow hopefully and i will mod that the second i get home. the slims have a firmware released but one of the drives hasnt had it released yet.

  5. youre part of the problem thats ruining the gaming industry.

congrats on being a thief and cheater.

  6. EA and Activision are what's ruining the industry, get over yourself.

yeah people stealing video games sure hasnt been a problem for PC gaming

I dont think its only EA and activision either. theres too many bullshit sequels in general in gaming right now.

  8. A reductionist viewpoint. Piracy has ruined pc games but it's a bit of a stretch to say it's ruining console games. It's not just Ea and activision no, the fifa and CoD crowd are doing their part, politics within the industry are ridiculous now.

For future reference piracy =/= theft.

  9. so we should just tolerate console pirates just because it hasnt become a major problem yet?

and how is video game piracy not theft. downloading something for free youre supposed to pay money for is stealing.

  10. Theft would be robbing a game from a store, to take something without freely given consent. Piracy is simply unauthorized use / reproduction. The original is not removed so it is not theft.

Tolerate? Tell the industry that's ripping people off. I have no sympathy for huge corporations complaining about the fallacy of "lost sales".

    thats just silliness and semantics.

not sure how it matters anyway. it still hurts the industry no matter what you call it.

  12. It's also correct.

I think any game developer or publisher would disagree

I understand what youre saying. its not technically taking anything away from the original owner, but it is taking away potential sales and the person is getting away with using something without paying.

its bad for the industry. itll push developers in a direction that gamers really dont want them going.

  14. Yeah I know, I was just saying it's piracy, not theft.
Potential sales is a sketchy point, I wouldn't have bothered buying most of the games I've downloaded. The console gaming industry isn't as open to piracy issues today as it was say 6 or 7 years ago, the amount of people actually doing it has gone down drastically. Back in the psx/ps2 day I hardly knew anyone that didn't have a chipped console, now it's become much rarer.

  15. yeah the whole piracy issue is a little weird.

what will happen though if it continues is we will end up having to subscribe to games on a pay per month kind of deal instead of being able to actually buy the games, or well have an online account that we have to log into before playing the game.

  16. i remember having a "chipped" ps1...that was awesome. the current generation of consoles really don't have too much of a problem with piracy...in fact i think the whole piracy issue (including pc gaming) is not as bad as it seems, it's like a moral panic.

  17. i dont pirate games i make legal copys of games that i own. so my originals dont get all fucked up.

  18. Games cost $60 new. Each game sells hundreds of thousands of copies.
Are you really worried about a fraction of people that pirate?

Anyway, i would flash my brick but i'm afraid i'll fuck up. Stretched on cash now so I'd be out an xbox for a few months.

I have a BenQ and i heard those were one of the easiest to flash.
Another thing that's holding me back is the lack of games i want.

I mean, if it's not GTA, FPS, or strategy i don't really mess with it.
I have GTA, getting bored with FPS, and consoles don't have the control or power to support decent strategy games.

  19. You do know they banned half a million people for this right?

That's why you should unhook the internet when you play copied games.
    Can never be too careful.
