So here it is, the dreamer's journal. For those of you who have not been reading my other thread about this grow, here's what's going down. I have one hollow Xbox 360 shell, some seeds, a homemade carbon filter, the 360 fans, one 10" cfl, and a whole bunch of book knowledge. I will be using some regular old miracle gro with a one gallon pack of miracle gro nutes. I will start the plants from seedling straight into 12/12. My goal is to see if this is possible, if I can grow weed in an Xbox. It is not my intention to harvest a massive amount of herb. If, however, the plant survives and I am able to harvest even 2 grams; I will do it again and see if I can maximize the yield. I am using regular bag seeds, i was going to order an autoflowering strain but realized that it could be a waste of money. This grow journal is wide open as far as ideas go. anything can be thrown out there and i will evaluate it and decide whether or not to implement the change. even those of you who will mock and discourage me, there will be many, are much appreciated, for it is you who drive me to keep going. I currently do not have a camera, but will post tons of pics as soon as i get one. so for now, i will have to rely on text to convey the problems and stuff. I am planting tonight. I have germinated the seed for a little over 33 hours now and i can see the root. I am starting it in a cup but will move it to a shallow trough when it grows a little. The plant will be towards the front of the xbox and once it's in the trough, i will start to LST it going to the back. there is less than one foot between the soil and the light. all the vents(holes) around the xbox are sealed except for the entire back side. all the wires from the equipment inside the xbox will come out of the holes where wires normally come out of. and the intake is mounted over the rows of small holes along the back of the xbox with foil tape. a carbon filter is mounted to the fans with more foil tape. i know that i couldn't have possibly sealed up the whole xbox airtight, so i will rely on these gaps for intake. i can water it by taking the top off, and later, when it has leaves, i have a hose that i can use to reach the soil. so, wish me luck.
good luck ak......i saw you other thread.......i say the heck with the naysayers....where there is a will there is a way....... i would suggest going straight to 12/12 on your lights just because you have so little room. ill be watching.
Thread needs pics. Remember to keep your plant close to the light (2 or 3 inches for CFL). Stretching is the last thing you want. Good luck man, I know it's possible.
I'm not going to say that this is impossible, just difficult and hardly worth it. I've seen a shot glass grow where the finished plant was 4" tall and yielded about 2 grams. There are a lot of expenses that come along with growing weed that you might not have thought of. I would say that this will cost you at least a hundred dollars to pull off successfully when you factor in nutes, PH control, ventilation, a timer, and other random expenses. All to have probably a 25% chance of actually making it to harvest. You'll probably need a clone to put in there, as most plants done 12/12 from seed will still stretch out enough to outgrow this tiny area. If you must grow from seed, you'll need an Indica strain like Northern Lights. Closettoker on here grew a northern lights 12/12 from seed and the plant was tiny. I hope you do succeed, however. I would love to see someone pull off a grow in a space so tiny. Good luck dude!
This has to be watched, if this is do-able What would be the smallest plant to do? I saw you mention ak47 x lowryder#2 in the other thread but Im doing one of those and it will never ever fit into an xbox, it's only halfway done aswell. Yes, we would like pics
Been following ure other thread and seems like something fun. good luck and make sure to post up some pics. Good luck!
You definitely have to go 12 12 right away. I would have the plant on one side and slowly lst it across to the other side as you go. I bet I could do this but only because I have a bunch of other stuff to make it easier for me to do. You on the other hand do not have access to clones etc. so I think its going to be much harder. Have you considered the type of container you are going to use?
Thanks for all the support. It is very important to me right now to get some pics up, so know that they are coming. also, i saw a timer mentioned in an earlier post but i am just going to turn it on at 6 am and off at 6pm. as far as the plant, nothing new today. hopefully i will have some growth later tonight or tomorrow.
why do you think a timer is that important? I routinely wake up at 5:45 anyway, and I'm home way before six o'clock. Is it just that I might forget one time? If the reason is good enough I will totally go and buy one. Btw, still no growth.
Hope it works out for ya...but you really should re-think the Miracle Grow. It is going to burn your plants. Just my opinion. Good luck bro. Peace. Please.
you should get a timer...it will make your grow a lot easier. and i also would suggest not using miracle grow soil....it will burn your seedlings. good luck bro.
yeah, you gotta get a timer. dont worry about pH or nutes, just cop some nutrient rich organic soil from a nursery. Theres no reson to give nutes to a little plant. Depending on the strain, they could grow way to big for an xbox though. but good luck. it could definitely be done with lower ryder seeds
The timer will make your life easier, especially since you're trying to hide it from others in your house. Miracle grow is fine as long as you don't use it at full strength. BTW I would start the plant with the lights on 24 hours. If you start at 12/12 the plant will grow to a certain size then flower, so you may as well use 24/0 for a week then switch to 12/12. The plant will be more compact this way
You need the timer because you dont want to miss turning the lights on and off even once if you can help it. Its the safest way to do it and trust me, unless you are in a cabin in the middle of nowhere you will for sure be away from the grow at least once. Trust me. I dont doubt that this is possible to do. But if you're going to skimp on such necessities as a timer than I am definitely doubting your chances.
it's not that I am skimping, I just want to make sure it's necessary. And I do think I might have been getting ahead of myself. It just isn't feasible to expect to turn it on, off, on, and off. I will be getting a timer. Also, if not miraclegro, then what? The plant popped out of the dirt smetime today.
