Hey guys, I've been researching for a while and I'm pretty certain I'm going to start my first grow soon. I plan on making a Rumple-bucket and scrogging a single plant. Eventually I'd like to harvest monthly but I think that will take at least three plants, if not four. So for now I'm looking for a strain that will respond well to fimming/topping and scrogging. I have been looking at the Nirvana site and narrowed it down to White Widow and AK48. I know there are people out there that have grown these, but does anyone have personal experience using a screen with them?
if you're making a rumple bucket why don't you use similar dimensions? 2x4x7 is his closet, one bucket one plant = ~12 oz dry, no scrog. scrog is best with limited space, with a dwc bucket i assume you're not that limited since you can grow huge plants.
Space is an issue. I'm still renting so I need this to stay fairly stealth. I was planning on modifying furniture I have already for a 1'x1'x2' space or building a 2'x1'x2.5' cab from scratch. The larger cab that I might build would be able to fit two 5gal buckets for a BB + reservoir. That leaves me roughly 13-14 inches above the BB so that I can have 7 inches to the screen and 6 inches to the bottom of the bulbs (CFL, hopefully six 24w). From the research I've done it sounds like BB is efficient and one plant could fill a 2'x1' screen pretty nicely. Is this not a good idea?
I don't know about AK48, but WW is not what I would consider a "short" strain (scrog notwithstanding) which is prolly something you should look for given your height restrictions. Maybe a 'dwarf' strain - auto-flowering perhaps? Good luck on your grow!
I had considered autos, but that means I wouldn't be able to clone and I'd like to be able to control the flowering so I can make the best use of the screen. I also settled on those two (and now possibly white rhino) because of the high that they are supposed to produce. Most of the short-short plants are all indica and I'm just not looking for a couchlock... yet.
I didn't realize this was a stealthy grow. I wouldn't do any of those strains you suggested for the are all very smelly when it comes to flower time..
well, i've got a whole room dedicated to the girls, with a carbon-filter-exhaust... if i leave the door open for five minutes the whole flat smells, so i'd say it could be difficult with a cab-grow...
Yeah I am currently growing seedsman seeds white widow. And literally from day 1 of flowering she has started to smell. At this point, the smell barely leaves my closet, my room just has a light smell of marijuana. But I still have 7 more weeks of flowering to go, and if I can already smell it in my room at this point, I am going to need to use some serious strategy for the second half of flowering....good thing i have ozium!
If you're using a cab you can always attach a scrubber to the outside. My small cab wreaks at some points like when the molasses is lurking, bought a NOTICEables (NOTICEablesâ„¢ Oil Warmer - Freshens Air & Eliminates Odor) and smells great.
