what the hell were they thinking

why would you give up Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks for SHAQ.

SHAQ is near worthless these days, he cant even help a Miami team with Dwayne Wade win.

    What a terrible decision!

  2. yeah i have that link in the original post. Very good move for Miami, terrible move for Phoenix.

  3. Yeah phoenix is fucking dumb as hell, i saw them talking about possible reports of shaq getting traded(like the teams hadnt even talked yet really) this morning on ESPN, and I checked before class and he had officially been traded. wtf, bad decision by the suns for real, shaq is too old and marion is too good

  4. Phoenix probably wanted someone on the roster that can cause problems for teams like San Antonio and LA in the middle. Even though the big guy cant get up and down the court, he's still a handful in the post....and I mean that literally.

I think LA made a big move to position themselves for a title run, and now PHX is trying to do the same. Shaq has brought a title to every team hes played for (minus Orlando), and theres still reason to believe he can bring one to PHX as well. PHX still has the talent to be competitive and get up and down the floor, now theyve added a guy who can come in and beat up the post, take up some space and make it difficult for duncan/bynum to do their thing....something they havent had in years past.

I like the trade for both teams. PHX for the short term, Miami for the long term.

  5. What about Stoudimire? Amare is much better in transition and a much better athlete. And Shaq cant score any more.

I dont know, I just dont understand why they'd make the move, Phoenix has a very good team, they've been a little cold lately but still playoff bound. The move just baffles me. Miami was won what, 9 games all year?

  6. I wonder how this trade got proposed.

*Owners at a party very late in the evening*
Drunk Heat Owner: So hey man, I'm just throwing this out there but I'll give you Shaq for Shawn Marion. Don't laugh but we really like Shawn.
    Sober Suns Owner: Fine.
Drunk Heat Owner: Buy this man the bar.

  7. Yeah itd make a little more sense if there was a draft pick involved since Miami is by far the worst team in the NBA. but no.

    It really baffles me.

Atleast my Cavs beat Boston last night, that made me :)

  8. Shaq is getting old though...he's past his prime. He's been in the game what like 16 years now somethin like that?

  9. It's a pretty good trade for Phoenix. Marion was in the last year of his contract, and was NOT going to re-sign with Phoenix (he had been demanding a trade since the beginning of the summer). So, they traded for Shaq, instead of just letting Marion get away with nothing in return. Now they have a guy who can rebound and defend the likes of Bynum, Dirk, and Chandler.

  10. I still would have taken my chances. Let Marion become a Free Agent, that would have freed up a lot of salary room, then look to bring in another big name Free Agent.

I just dont think Shaq will produce and i dont know the numbers, but Shaq is in the final 2 years of his monster contract, he has got to be costing Phoenix more money than Shawn Marion was.

  11. I heard Tiger Woods is getting traded for that one dude from the Diamondbacks.

  12. When you trade, the total contract money must be within 15% of each other when over the salary cap (and most teams are). I imagine that was why Banks was thrown in, because Marion's salary probably wasn't high enough. I haven't checked the figures, but that's what I'm assuming.

  13. That was my assumption, thats why its even more ridiculous. Give up a cheaper, better player for a more expensive old turd who has 2 years left on his contract and we all know those last 2 years are the most expensive years.

Either way Phoenix really bailed Miami out, both in salary cap room and in taking Shaq off of their hands. I was just listening to Stephen A about 2-3 weeks ago when someone asked if the Knicks were better than Miami. And the answer was YES because Miami was stuck with Shaq and the Knicks have more young, tradable players. Stephen A, himself said that it would be impossible for the Heat to get rid of Shaq, guess they hit the jackpot.

I dont care too much because im a Cavaliers and Mavericks fan. I was actually hoping Cleveland was going to make a move to get Jason Kidd, But i think we would have to give up too much to get him. Plus I rather like Daniel Gibson the 2nd year player from Texas running the PG, I think he will develop nicely with LBJ there. We really need a big man this year in the draft, Illgauskaus is nice but hes getting older and older each game.

  14. more beef and defense in the low post.

more clutch and wisdom in the playoffs.

  15. ROFL. I still remember that one movie Shizaam or whatever and when he tried to make a rap album.

  16. Id hardly consider Shaq clutch or smart. Katt Williams even made fun of him in American Hustle, that shit was hilarious. "Uhhhhhh Chicken" ROFL

  17. haha yeah, but steve kerr is counting on shaq to be highly motivated, not the lazy shaq.

they're saying he called steve nash and told him dont worry, he'll get his ring.

    we'll see...

LA vs PHX in playoffs will be epic.

  18. I hope so. But again, my team is the Cavaliers, the west doesnt really interest me too much. I much rather watch Boston, Orlando, Detriot, and Cleveland.

We'll see how it turns out, its only a matter of time before we see how this turns out for Phoenix.
