Wtf? Power bill went up 107 this month

I hardly doubt you're pulling over 1k kwh from your setup.

Take everything else into consideration. If you started heating your house, even with a gas heater, it'll use quite a bit of electric. Don't use electric heaters. They eat power faster than you would believe.

 

Usually once u add watts all of a sudden, the bill goes up high, as u consistently run that much wat, ur bill will lower back down. I too was scared this month with my bill. I just started my grow and it jumped high, so I asked my dad and that is what he told me he's a smart guy

 

I would look at what else is running in your house. Most likely a/c , heat or something like that is more likely the cause than your lights. I ran a 400w hps and 100w 6" inline fan 24 hours a day and didnt see that much of a jump.

 

yea there no way in hell 180 watt of cfl jumped you 107 i run 1000 watt hid light air pumps 4 6 inch fans and one 6 inch inline fan and mine only went up 73 and i got 2 400 gph water pump and all of that runs 24/7 and a 12000 btu ac all just hucked up for the last two month and like i said its around 73 a month

That makes me feel better I was going to get a 400 watt hps. I heard somewhere that using 400 watts is only 16 dollar increase. In comparison of that and how much goodies I'll get in the end makes me feel much better about my choices.

 

i was just running a 600 watt mh and hps for flowering and a 6 inch inline fan when i was doing dirt think it was around 40 bucks just dont run your light a peak time so dont run them from 4pm-10pm and its cheaper then if you were running them at those times cause power cost more druing them times cant spell sorry

 

Mine went up almost exactly $30 for an additional 478 kwh. That was also during a month where we had a bad heat spell and the a/c ran about 16 hours a day according to the log my thermostat keeps.

 

Well the fan probably uses 50-70 watts from looking up power on 4' inline fans so your using 250 watts or so. Depending on when you have your lights on also influences cost. During the day its considered peak when power prices tend to be higher.

Here in Atlanta I pay 11 cents per kw..very cheap. Even if it was double if I had your set up my bill would not go up that much. Use the link I linked to figure out how much its costing.

Also consider other things influence it as well. Most do not realize that a Xbox 360 or PS3 depending on model can consume over 300 watts, throw in a large LCD or Plasma maybe a home theater system and your pulling close to 1000 watts in some cases.

Gaming computers nowadays have 1kw power supplys as well. Considering August was one of the hottest months on Earth this year in history every ones energy bill is high. AC uses major power.

yeah sounds like something else is up, I run everything in my house + 1000W HPS, AC, 300W CFL, fans and other stuff and my entire bill is a maybe 40$ more than that.
