wtf is going on?

  1. So I am a long time smoker, and just recently (this past weekend) I have literally passed out for like 5 seconds after taking a big hit from a bong. They were on consecutive nights, and I would take a big toke, but nothing I would usually be able to handle, and as I leaned back I began to feel really light headed. I managed to hand the bong off before I lost it but then apparently I passed out for like 5 seconds and spasmed! This has happened twice, both times with a spasm at the end or something. And apparently my eyes were open too. I was smoking more than usual this weekend (as in, every waking hour).

So what could be happening? Should I seek medical help?

  2. How much had you eaten?
Blood sugar levels can play a factor.

  3. you should take it easy on the bong rips. smoke slower. enjoy your smoke. i remember "passing out" the first time i smoked a blunt with hash in it when I was 16. I think you will be fine... but I don't know your medical history. If you think you need to see a doctor SEE A DOCTOR! don't let one of us play doctor. I think you just got way high.. heh :smoking:

  4. It sounds like it has something to do with either a lack of oxygen to your brain, or a sudden drop in blood pressure (something like when you stand up to fast and blackout).

  5. I have experienced this light headed, passing out thing before on several occasions. For a couple of months, almost every time I smoked I would take like one or two hits, not even enough to feel anything, and then I would get really nauseous and light headed and feel like I was gonna pass out. I think it has to do with blood sugar, because I have hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and always thought this to be the cause.

  6. That really doesn't sound good. I'm a small girl and I smoke a huge bong and have never had an experience like that. I've gotten mega dizzy, but that's it.

  7. i've had friends pass out after smokin blunts - the tobacco constricts your blood vessels, then they all stood up to get outta the truck and BAM - lost a fight against my driveway

but i've never heard of that with bong rips, slow down like prometheus said and if it still happens - talk to a doctor

  8. Used to call that a California Dream in the day, back in school :) Anywho, I am one person who doesn't really get loaded off of drugs but sure did have fun learning how to affect his limbic system different ways as a kid... change in breath, holding breath, breathing deep, holding in the sweet smell of gas, playing the phuck out of a tuba and trombone, holding in the sweet sweet THC.

Regardless of if your past events pose a serious problem or not, have you ever gotten close to your body, senses and consciousness physically (I'm sure most people here can at least relate :smoking:). I can say that I'm pretty in-tune with my body, especially with my sense of balance. Getting stoned and uberblasted over the years has also helped my synchronization with my body (i.e., continual exposure to movement under the influence and eventually progressing to higher-end and complex movement under the influence). At least if I were to get a concussion or have a stroke or heart attack, etc., I would be pretty aware of it.

    just a thot. nanu nanu

  9. Thanks for the info everyone. I think it may have been a combination of too much weed and low blood sugar, since I had not eaten recently both times. Plus I am the type of person who can get light headed just standing up too quickly, so maybe I have a biological predisposition to it.

  10. It could be. I've passed out from being light headed before, it's the spasms that I find odd.
