WTF at peoples attitude to hip hop on this forum

Discussion in 'Music genres, Bands and Artists' started by Mr Stoned, Jun 2, 2009.

  1. That's the problem with threads like these.

Subjective things like which hip-hop is "better" or whatevers is like debating if God exists or not. People have their own personal tastes. Shit just leads to flame wars.

I mean, it's obvious people tried to spread their own tastes through propaganda in this thread, but whether or not that that'll change some of the member's views towards their music, that's all up in air.

  2. + rep for your knowledge of hip hop (although id add that Lloyd Banks is actually a fairly talented rapper who just needs to change up his subject matter a bit).

Heres some other great underground rappers/groups for everyone to check out:
    Jedi Mind Tricks
    Army of the Pharaohs
    Non Phixion
    Eyedea
    Tech N9ne
    Blackstar
    Pharaohe Monch
    Organized Konfusion
    Jurassic 5
    Sean Price
    Outerspace

and make sure to check out anything by Big L, the best rapper of all time.

  3. i think its funny how everyone tries to be cool by posting a list of underground rappers...its almost like you get off by naming some unkown rapper, that you prolly dont even like but claim to like for the sake of being labeled "a true hip hop fan" LOL

  4. Or maybe people are trying to help other people out by giving them names of good musicians so that they can enjoy their music too. Why so negative?

  5. the thing that i love the most, is the fact that all the "underground rappers" that people post are all the same. i completely know what you mean. if you think you know underground rappers, don't be posting aesop, immortal, jedi mind tricks, SPM, etc. etc. its like they just read through the list and post it again.

it's not that they aren't good, but some people need more variety.

  6. Tech N9ne isn't underground btw, he owns his own label and is touring all the time.

his music is just to strange for the radio. T9X

  7. exactly, im the type of person that gets tired of music quick and im always on the look for some new stuff. and i aint gonna lie some of the rappers people posted, although not all, are underground for a reason and thats because they arent that good. i like my music to have some good lyrics and a cool beat, not some funky ass anti-government only lyrics with a beat that sounds like its on acid.

oh and by the way i love your sig and that track
The Game and Blackwall street- So High

  8. what makes a rapper underground?

  9. ^^ I feel the same way someone always lists abunch of underground lyricists and it's always the same list haha. Its cool that you know T9 and Jedi mind tricks I guess, but you aint fuckin with Eminem when he needed $$.

    *sparks one*

  10. the entire Slim Shady LP is fire

  11. The people I named was a far from exhaustive list. I was just giving examples of some people that I onstitute as a talented emcee. But yeah I do agree with you on that. People do follow the trend in debates like these because the majority of people in this thread dislike 'hoes hoes moneh moneh' rappers and if someone came in abusing emcees like the ones you named they'd probably get a fair bit of -rep. So people name the previously named just to agree with what the people in this thread find agreeable.

  12. ive been saying this for years haha

  13. Too many nig-gaz tryna take me off of my game

  16. I love mid 90s hip hop, it's the golden age of hip hop. The thing is, it's a completely different game right now, you know? Today we're in an age of rap, not hip hop, the two are much different. the only mainstream hip hop right now is artists like mos def, roots, common, talib, a few others, not too many in mainstream though. Lyrically and metaphorically, rappers may actually be better now, but as far as story telling goes, and actually rapping about more than 3 things your whole album goes, artists from 2003 and earlier are much better.
