In short, I writing a research paper for English class (college level)
It has to be STRICTLY about medicinal use (cannabis of course)
Also, has to be completely unbiased (obviously towards, yes, it has medical use)
It is not an argumentative essay (but the next one will be :))
Has to be based on research-able facts rather than in logic or ethical theory.
Also, can't talk about the multiple use of hemp, this has to be only about medical use.

    That being said,
I know this very possible to do, and I'm in need of some guidance
Finding legit sources shouldn't be a problem (I having access to multiple databases)
I was more interested in what topic to talk about/ main ideas.

The outline should look something like...

    I. Introduction w/ Thesis
    II. Background
    III. Controversy Overview
    IV. "Pro" Prospective
    V. "Con" Prospective
    VI. Conclusion

Here is what I had in mind...

    I. Intro
    II. History of cannabis use
    First documented use
Reasons on why they used it?
    -spiritually/ medically/ recreational use???

    Spiritual use
Hindu festival of Holi - they used it in a drink called 'Bhang' (milkshake like)
    Buddhism- used to help meditate

    Medically
Chinese medicine - one of the 50 Fundamental Herbs

III. When and why did it become illegal?
I'll have to look this up, should be very easy to find...

IV. Reasons for the medical use of cannabis
    -chemotherapy
    -anorexia
    -chronic Pain
    -glaucoma
    -persistent muscle spasms
    -seizures
    -severe nausea
    -HIV/ AIDS

    Methods of Consumption
    -smoked, edibles/ drinkables, tinctures, vaporizer
    --a short pro/con of each
---this method is more for this reason

    V. Reasons agaisnt the medical use of cannabis
    already have drugs available
    -Marinol(synthetic THC)

    High potential for abuse

    Schedule 1 drug
    - can't prescribe it (only recommend it)

More potent now, then ever before

    VI. Conclusion

I know I can easily argue away the agaisnt reasons, but I'm trying to be unbiased
What are any argument the would fall under the agaisnt reasons (backed up w/ facts)
    -cant' do the gateway theory

    Thanks for reading!

    Thoughts?
What to add or take away?
    Move around?
    Input?

  2. it was used by native americans (im 25% mohawk) as a pain reliever and also used to help put people in a 'trance state of mind' to heal warriors in battle to become less de-sensitized by battle and stronger in the mind.

i did a paper on it in my seinor year of high school it was 16 pages and cited. mine was more on the native tribe and medicinal/spiritual use of substances, not just particurly pot. dont have the sources avalible anymore.....

    hope that helps :)

  4. Go to the medicinal marijuana forum area and find Granny Stormcrows list of medicinal references... I am certain youll find something you can use there.

  5. That outline looks solid. And your professor will respect your bias neutrality. It's pretty much a must for a good grade, I would imagine. Out of curiousity, what course is this for?
