So not to long ago my mom got all these boxes dropped off with stuff in them and all this other shit and a clock her dad bought for her mom for $99 dollers. My grandpa drove it with him to vancouver to give it my grandma or something along thoughs lines anyways she bitched him out. (my grandpa died when my mom was the age of 2 in a car crash). fast foward to now my mom has the clock its broken but she got someone to come over to see what its worth and if it can be fixed...well its worth 11,000-12,000 broken or not shes getting it fixed and then keeping it then passing it on. The guy wanted to buy it off her but she said no because you'll only see these clocks in an old persons house or at antique shops or protos) Looks something like that but a lil more nicer. Reason I posted this is I never knew a simple clock would be worth so much.
how is that worth 12g's I could make that with the tools at my school in an hour... is it a perpetual motion clock?
I won't believe you til I see you with that thing on Antique Roadshow and some old geezers telling you it's worth 12k.
Ight but im not american...But whatever...The dude what came to my house was an old geezer and was a professional.
Works by a gear system and a box but its gonna get fixed 1 gear is missing and in the box is all jacked and needs to be fixed.
I don't know if it's worth $12,000, but It's definitely worth two in the bush (+rep to anyone who knows what I'm talking about)
id sell my dick for 12 grand you better sell that shit!!! That's just me a clock isnt worth much sitting around the house. what if someone breaks into the house and steals it then sells it on the street for 20 bucks. that would make me mad. Maybe im just baked
To all naysayers. Yes he may be lying. This story can be a hoax and he's justing saying this stuff so people will reply to it. Well guess what you did,you lose. Then on the other hand he may be telling the truth which I believe (after watching way to much antiques roadshow with my mom and brother when i was younger). And if it is true well then he is right you are wrong. You lose. 12g's for a clock that looks like it has no special value. I get it, hard to believe. But you would be surprised at how much a company name will go for. Say the company owner stopped selling them after a while making them hard to come by and killed himself from failing at the company. Price on the clock runs amuck. Collectors are usually the only people who know the reason behind the pricing it. And unless you are a clock collector, pawn artist, or something of the sort well then you have no way of knowing for sure.So instead of saying "nunh unh" or "it can't be worth that much" lets try " wow thats unbelievable" or something along those lines. And to the guy who said he could make one of those, Good job big guy. You just kanye wested his taylor swift.
Antiques like that go for 12k and more all the time. It's not the functionality of the machine that makes it valuable, it's the age and the condition that it's in, and how rare it is. It could have been a limited production model of a clock company that doesn't exist anymore. My Granndpa used to own an antique store before he retired, he always had interesting stuff in there.
It's crazy how old stuff can be worth like SHITLOAD more than it was ever sold for or what the thing itself should be worth.
Call me a troll people don't matter to me and the clock in the image isnt the one my mom has and yes its just a clock and I have seen some antique roadshow and some of the stupidest shit is worth in the 1,000s. But I dont see why this guy would lie about something and ask to buy it for the price. I'll just let this thread die now to many people think people lie...
