Wow.. I thought it was gonna be easy.

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by RICK8675309, May 21, 2021.

  1. Pictures show gradual fixes being applied to FIX plants over last 2 weeks ending with Today they are looking better.. I think.

Eastern Ontario Canada.. Transplant to 5Gallon Grow Bags in June to finish grow outdoors.

SO MANY MISTAKES. Never grown anything in my life. These plants are very resistant to my mishandling.

    BAD:
    *Window Sill is No Good..
    *Starter Pot too big
    *Not enough Soil..
*Wrong Soil? (Had a bag of Vigoro Enriched Lawn Soil 0.02-0.03-0.02 in the shed so used that)
*Random seeds I've collected over the years.. no clue what Strains they are.
    *No air circulation.....

Found this GRASSCITY Forum and over the last 2 weeks been nursing my plants back to life.

    *Added soil to pots...
    *Purchased cheap Amazon LED lights
*Adjusted my watering schedule to when needed not at a set time daily
*Saw a tip to use tooth pic to hold up stem... WORKING
*Saw a tip to cut a straw and place around stem gently... WORKING
*Saw a post mention air circulation.. bought a Fan... WORKING

Gonna keep checking this site daily.. keep learning.. and monitoring them 24/7 on my Cam!

Hope all female and hope all live to be SMOKED!

  2. Lights are to far away ..
Your Lawn soil looks like it doesn't have enough drainage ,
Looks like its holding way to much moisture .

  4. Looks good so far!

Get a bag of compost. Any kind. Mix it in with your soil when you put them out.

Once they're in the ground, water ever other day. Use any tomato water soluble food once a week. Don't use shake and feed.

One last tip: Get a small roll of hardware cloth (1/4 inch welded wire) , cut a 3 foot piece, and cage your plants with it. Varmints will try to dig or eat them up. You can remove the cages after a month.

  5. They need better soil. Something like fox farm/roots organic/pro mix with 30% perlite added. Bury them right up to the lowest leaves. And put them outside asap. I also wouldn't suggest anything smaller than 15 gallon pots. Trust me I did 5 gallons last year and the entire pot became roots by the end of the grow, I'm talking almost no soil left just a pot full of roots. Because of this they needed to be fed and watered constantly and it was nearly impossible to keep the PH right. I went to 15s this year and if money/space wasn't an issue I would have done 25s.

Raw compost from my recycle bin

    Same compost in sand.

This had cooked compost with a few extra goodies. No food other than a little hot top dressing at the stretch.

This is first time grower thread, so if you want to lose them with details, be my guess.

  9. I just wanted to say you're not alone! I thought it'd be easy too, it's a plant, I'm great at growing plants. Nope....I've run into: mites, gnats, rot, reveg, broken seems, multiple deficiencies & a constant state of WTF now. BUT the awesome people of GCF have helped a lot!! Keep posting, keep learning, don't give up!!

  10. Thanks! It's been so hard but all the people here have been so helpful. I don't post much because pretty much every answer is already here somewhere.

  11. I'm a new weed grower but a decades long gardener and professional grower of other things. If it's got a seed I can probably grow it. I found weed to be tricky, particularly at the earliest stages. Once it gets to be 3-4 inches tall, life is good. I think we ALL are always learning new things with trying different strains/locations/soils. Just wish the seeds weren't so damn expensive.

  12. Same here. Growing is deep enough that I can't get bored. When I think I got it, I get bit. lol

Buy Regular seed and do a seed run over the winter. You only need one or two girls and one male to have a lifetime supply. But then you have another problem. You'll want another strain, or you'll want to make female seeds. :)
